Which is why when I saw the previews for You Don't Mess With the Zohan, I was thrilled. Finally, there was a film not only devoid of liberalism, but also in support of Israel's inherent right to exist. Silly Zionist, entertainment is for liberals.
The first sign that this movie was going to be bad was when the terrorist turned into the Palestinian version of a celebrity, thereby toning down the reality of just what a terrorist is. There were no suicide bombings, no emergencies, and no expression at all of just what the terrorists wanted. Even in the beginning, the terrorists and Israelis were treated like characters in a comic book...except that there was no super-villain. By the end of the movie it was clear what the theme was: its really everyone's fault. Throughout the production, characters discussed and demonstrated how there was "so much hate on both sides."
This is the kind of thing you tell a child when they are arguing with their sibling but it is not something you tell to the most democratic nation in the Middle East after a terrorist blows up a schoolbus. If those producers truly believed that, I recommend that that they say it at the funeral of an Israeli soldier; if they survive, it will be a testament to the tolerance of Israel.
While the movie firmly and steadfastly opposed any "unfair" treatment of terrorists (not Palestinians, terrorists) it also encouraged the redneck stereotype that can be found in any liberal establishment. That is to say that rednecks were introduced as evil racists who hated pretty much every non-white ethnicity as well as puppies.
Between the misrepresentation of Israel, the bashing of Southerners, and the constant sex (I didn't keep track but I'm pretty sure you could find ten minutes where there was no sex of or nudity) it was hard not to be appalled at the rampant liberal bias that has so thoroughly infiltrated mainstream comdey.
