The Oxford Shoe

A common style of outer wear dress attire for the foot has long lastingly been the Oxford shoe. While originally the name stems from the oldest settlement in England, it was in Scotland where the first shoe of this kind was made and worn. First called Balmorals, the tough leather shoe was originally trimmed in durable laces. Since it has survived earlier years of simple design to be adjusted for every American of today. Women, men and children alike can accessories their business and casual wardrobe with the flare of integrity from this first variation of the loafer.

It is recorded in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle that the township of Oxford was dated to have circulated around the year of 912. Now with over 36 colleges, the first known university was operating there in 1249. Class and style have come a long way to continue it's positive influence of intelligent choice.

The round toe form of the first Oxford shoe still survives to be produced by numeral company sources. Labels such as Cohaan, Sketchers, Keds and the original Chuck Taylor are all examples of shoes designed as Oxfords. The first brand of athletic tennis shoes were used in early pro basketball days when The Globetrotter's had fans by storm, this shoe was made by Converse. A wide spread amount of brands still carry the association on the making their shoes to be known as Oxford.

The extension of the full shoe and half boot has grown into a fashion symbol of sophistication in women's ware. It is the lace on the mini boot that remain identical with that of Oxford adherence. In 2001 The American Pediatric Medical Association reports supportive research data to the US Patent office to state that over 18 million people in our country were treated by a doctor for foot pain. An outstanding 20 million were estimated to be self treating similar symptoms. When we wear the wrong type of shoe our foot can suffer inflammation, by heat and pressure. Therefore a new patent to redesign the Oxford shoe to raise horizontal bindings, relieve tension of discomfort from improperly made footwear was approved.

Some later aspects of technology are shifting and controlling the way we live our normal lives. However, the comfort of the everlasting classic Oxford shoe thrives to be changed by our lifestyles and moments made in history.
