The Palace Poker Casino in Hayward, CA: A Review
From the outside the place looks kinda like a dive bar but the interior is decent for a little neighborhood card club. The "casino" tag is a little misleading and an odd switch since they just used to be known as the Palace Card Club, and all the action is centered around poker. The place is open 24/7 every day including holidays, and as far as games go you'll find limit Texas Hold 'Em (3/6 and 4/8 with half kill, 6/12 will be set up if there's enough demand for it at one time), noontime games of no limit Hold 'Em ($100 minimum buy-in with no maximum), Double Hand, Omaha Hi/Lo and Rake. They also have "No Bust" blackjack. Waits can be up to an hour on Friday and Saturday nights but on off hours there's usually not a wait at all.
Amenities include a bunch of plasma TVs that usually show whatever sports games are on, and the "Palace Cafe" which serves up sandwiches, salad, soup, chicken wings, riblets, hot dogs and drinks. Waitresses will come around to take orders and serve you at the table.
As far as promos go - currently losing with aces full of jacks or better using both cards splits $2500 among the table with $1500 of that going to the winner. Royal flushes with both cards win $500 and get $50 for everyone else at the table. Between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m., if you lose with pocket aces, you'll pocket $100 for your troubles. The "Bad Beat" Hold 'Em and Omaha jackpots can go up to $50,000 and that is split with the whole room with four sevens in Hold 'Em or four jacks in Omaha.
The Palace Poker Casino is more of a small, local card place, and though I'm not a local it seemed like the crowd was mostly regulars all familiar with each other. The mood was relaxed and it was clean and kept up better than I expected for a little card room. If you're in the area and want some decent poker action it seems worth checking out.

As an impartial, and unbiased poker player who just calls it like I see it, The Palace CARD Club--not CASINO--is basically just a dump for suckers to DUMP their paycheck, and be abused by unappreciative dealers, and insulted by arrogant management. ... But don't take my word for it: go to Yahoo or Yelp and see what 99% of every reviewer says. You will find a common theme. i.e., bad dealers, poor amenities, unappreciative management.
