The Panasonic DMP-BD35 Blu-Ray Player: A Review
How Does This Next Generation Player Stack Up Against the Cheaper Models?
Image Quality: 5/5
Features: 4/5
Value: 3/5
Overall: 4/5
Product Overview:
The DMP-BD35 conforming to a BD profile 2.0, is a part of the second generation of blu-ray players. This allows for more fluid media transitions and quicker overall performance. As with all blu-ray players this Panasonic is capable of producing a 1080p resolution. This is delivered via the included industry standard HDMI 1.3 outputs. Also included are component outputs which deliver a resolution up to 720p.
The actual image quality that I've seen delivered from the DMP-BD35 is impressive. The upconverted DVD's have by far surprised me the most. There were several occasions over the Christmas holiday when family mistakenly thought we were watching an HD format when in actuality it as an upconverted DVD. The blu-ray quality is as good as any I've seen. The card slot in the front is also a nice. If your digital camera utilizes an SD card then all you need to do is pop the card in and off you go displaying all your pictures. No more hunting down and fumbling with your camera's media cords.
The actual device is quite sturdy and feels as though it will last for years of use. Since the DMP-BD35 does utilize the 2.0 profile and I have noticed considerably disk quicker loading times. The onboard menu is easy to use and I've been able to perform every function that I've need so far without referencing it. Integrating the device into my home theater system was also a hassle free process. So if you're considering this player for someone that isn't so tech savy I recommend it.
Product Value:
Currently priced at just under $400 the Panasonic DMP-BD35 blu-ray player makes for a very competitive entry in the market. While there may be some players a little cheaper I think that the DMP-BD35 has more features offered per dollar, not to mention the backing of a quality name brand. So if you've been on the fence for a while waiting on a quality player that won't break the bank then this may be the solution you've been looking for.
