The New Pantene? A Look at Pantene's New Customized Hair Solutions

Looking for your favorite Pantene shampoo or conditioner but can't find it? It may be discontinued. That's right -Pantene has discontinued several of its popular shampoo and conditioner product lines in order to roll out its new shampoo and conditioner replacement collections called Pantene's New Customized Pro-V Solutions. Pantene's product line up now consists of its New Fine Hair Solutions, Medium-Thick Hair Solutions, Color Hair Solutions, Curly Hair Series, and the old standby Classic Care Solutions, Nature Fusion and Relaxed & Natural Collections.

The new Pantene addresses 4 major hair types: curly hair, fine hair, med- thick hair, and color-treated hair.

New Pantene Pro-V Color Hair Solutions
The red-packaged New Pantene Color Hair solution is for those who want to improve the moisture content of their color-treated hair. Pantene's researchers found that the permanent coloring process changes hair deep down and affects the hair's cuticle surface at the structural level. Coloring and other chemical processes destroy the hair's natural cuticle protection. Without the protective layer intact, the hair fiber increases in porosity and is not able to reflect light well. The new Pantene Pro-V Color Hair Solutions line is "designed to help give color-treated hair a new protective outer layer." The solution contains fatty lipids and light proteins that deposit along the hair shaft, improving the porosity of color-treated hair.

The Color Hair Solutions line includes Pantene's Color Hair Solutions Color Preserve shampoo and conditioner which comes in Color Preserve Shine, Volume, and Smooth varieties. Pantene's Color Expression line is also featured in the new line up along with a Color hair Solutions Nourishing Treatment.

New Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Solutions
The golden-packaged Fine Hair Solutions line is for-you guessed it, those of us with finer, thinner strands. Because fine hair has "less structural volume . . . and 50% less protein than thick hair" the new Pantene Fine Hair Solutions line is "designed to reinforce the structure of fine hair for a full healthy look" Pantene suggests. Since fine hair is easily weighed down, Pantene uses protein-reinforced, lightweight formulas that deposit proteins along the hair shaft and rinse cleanly to give the appearance of thicker individual strands.

The Fine Hair Solutions line includes Pantene's Flat to Volume shampoo and conditioner, a Dry to Moisturized shampoo/conditioner, Fragile to Strong Shampoo/Conditioner, and a series of weightless volume and body enhancing sprays, root lifters, mousses, heat protectants, and gels. The Fine Hair solutions line also features a Fine Hair Solutions Moisturizing Treatment and Anti-Breakage Detangler.

New Pantene Pro-V Medium-Thick Hair Solutions
The blue-green packaged Medium-Thick Hair Solutions line is for those who are blessed with big hair! This product-heavy collection addresses the major problems faced by thick haired folks-frizz and inability to hold and keep styles smooth. According to researchers at Pantene, medium-thick hair has been found to contain as many as 2x the cellular density of finer hair. Humidity in the surrounding air can get into porous cuticles and cause hair to frizz. Medium-thick hair also contains significantly more natural protein than fine hair which can make it feel coarser and stiffer. The medium-thick hair line is designed to "minimize frizz" and "smooth and align strands, provide hold, and maintain smoothness."

Pantene's New Medium-Thick hair solutions line features their "Frizzy to Smooth" shampoo and conditioner, "Dry to Moisturized" shampoo/conditioner, "Breakage to Strength" shampoo/conditioner, and "Flat to Volume" shampoo/conditioner.

The styling line up for Medium-Thick Hair Solutions features anti-humidity sprays, a heat protectant, smoothing gel and creme, volumizing mousse, and a detangling product. The Medium-Thick line also includes an intensive restoration treatment and a damage repair treatment.

Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Series
The pink-packaged Curly Hair Series line is for curly girls who wish to add a little more pep and less frizz to their natural curls. Pantene researchers found that the natural twists and turns of curly hair often make it prone to premature cuticle lifting which may expose delicate areas of the cortex and inner cuticle. The curly hair conditioners contain a more sophisticated "guar substance"-an ingredient that Pantene researchers say cushions and protects the hair. The guar substance is "water-activated" and makes the hair easier to control, Pantene claims. Ultimately, the new Pantene Curly Hair Series line is "designed to smooth cuticles and leave curly hair protected from damage and frizz."

Products in the curly hair series include a "Dry to Moisturized" shampoo and conditioner, Curls to Straight shampoo/conditioner, and a host of curly hair styling products. Styling products in the curly line include curl shaping and enhancing gels, sprays, and mousse. The curly series also features an anti-frizz straightening crème, detangler, and deep moisturizing and repair treatments.
