The Panther Goby Looks like a Grouper!

This Fish Will Sting You

Shannon Frye
There's one type of fish which looks like it belongs deep down in the ocean. This fish is known as the Panther Goby. It looks a lot like a grouper or an angler fish. This fish is a brackish fish which means it requires a little bit of salt added into the water. Most pet stores will not have brackish fish. They will simply place them in a freshwater or saltwater set up without getting the salinity right. This fish doesn't require as much salt as your average saltwater fish, but you will need to add a small amount of salt to the water.

This fish comes in a variety of colors. This fish is black, grey, white and blue. This fish has a wide variety of colors and will really add a lot of coloration to your fish tank. You cannot place this fish into a saltwater fish tank. You will need to keep this fish with other brackish fish. This fish will reach up to 5 inches in length, which is fairly small for a fish that looks like it should be a grouper! Perhaps if you're a grouper fan, this is the fish for you!

You will need to keep the temperature somewhere between 70 and 80 degrees. You will want to place a heater in your fish tank to avoid the tank getting any colder than 70 degrees. Make sure that you don't set up the tank next to any heating vents or windows because the tank will get heated up. Another reason for over heating your fish tank is leaving the light on for too long.

This fish will eat a wide variety of foods including meat. You will need to feed this fish very small feeder shrimp and fish. It will eventually learn to eat other frozen types of foods such as brine shrimp but not right at first. This fish is very picky and a lot of them die because people wont purchase them feeder fish and feeder shrimp.

This fish is very cheap to purchase at about six dollars. This fish is very venemous which is how it kills the majority of the foods that it eats. You will want to be very careful when cleaning the fish tank because this fish will actually sting you and it will hurt pretty bad! Never place your hands or arms near this fish because you will be sore for a few days after getting stung by this fish. You might want to use a long scraper and avoid placing your arms or hands in the tank all together.
