There are several ways that we can get fit; aerobics, gyms, spas etc., although these things will definitely help with the slim down process I, as well as others, recommend spending time outdoors. You can go hiking, swimming, and biking, and at the same time enjoy the scenery. The fresh air will help you feel better and the breeze on your face will make you glad that you did.
A great activity taking place this summer is the "2010 Papillion Half Marathon, 10K, and Community Fun Walk", located in Papillion Nebraska.
This is Papillion's 3rd year holding the event and when speaking to people that have participated in the past they admitted that they will continue to do so every year. They enjoyed the exercise and the feeling of community; a warm, small town atmosphere.
The "Papillion Half Marathon, 10K, and Community Fun Walk" will take place on Sunday, May 16th starting at 7:30 a.m. There are fees associated with the event; however it's worth it because a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the "Nebraska Special Olympics." Entry fees are quite affordable; $45.00 for the "Half Marathon," $35.00 for the "10K," and $10.00 for the "Fun Walk" (ages 13 and up). Children ages 12 and under may enter the "Fun Walk" for free if they bring a canned food which will go to the TriCity Food Pantry which benefits families in the Nebraska area. So as you see you'll be helping not one but 2 good causes when participating in this event.
The starting and finishing points are at the Papillion-LaVista South High School Stadium located just off Highway 370 and 108th street in Papillion. There will be activities inside the stadium which will include bounce houses for the little kids, food and service vendors, a DJ with music, and much more.
Make this season a summer to remember; head for the outdoors, get in shape, enjoy nature and support two charities in Nebraska.
