The Party of Nope

Bill Mullen
You see it on the television. You hear it from the radio. Right Wing pundits screaming the dangers of Socialism, and without conservative principles, America is doomed. From people such as Glenn Beck, to media outlets such as Fox News, and the New York Post, fear mongering tactics are used daily to take down this "evil" administrational and its "unconstitutional ways". For eight years, America has tried it your ways, Republicans. Remember? The deficit blew up (due to an illegal and unjust war), the middle class was destroyed, and big banks were handed rewards for failing. With over 44 million Americans uninsured, the Right won't even sit down to talk about reform. "We have the best health care system in the world", we hear.

Yet other countries with nationalized health care continue to surpass our health system here in America. This isn't a persuasive write-up to try to get people opposed to change in our health care system, on board. This is in fact a plea for Republicans to step up and change. While most of America believed in hope a year ago, the Republican Party remained the same party of nope. Instead of giving America ideas to make the United States a better country, we have people such as Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, and Hannity shouting down anyone who have a D in front of their name. Instead of listening to the ideas the President has, for a better country, we have shouting behind closed doors. It's time for Republicans to break away from party lines, and its values. Its values clearly are not the values of the American people. We have at least another 3 years with Barack Obama. Let's embrace the opportunity to work with him, rather than promote the Republican agenda of fear.
