Without grief, stress, or strife,
And seek out the path
For a glorious life.
Our travel companions,
Our own motley crew,
Are witnessing all
That we must go through.
They can impede and deter us.
They can support and endear.
They can be silent and cold.
They can bring warmth and cheer.
Which path do we take,
The easy, pain-free way,
Or do we choose to be challenged,
To lead, come what may?
It is our choice alone,
As we look deep within,
To decide how we live,
If we serve or we sin.
The trip for us all,
Is profoundly the same,
Each problem, each challenge,
Each mind-boggling game.
No matter the path,
The lesson or role,
The good that we do,
Is ever burned on the soul.
The lessons we learn
On this life-long quest.
Provide opportunities
To become amply blessed.
So what will you do
When challenged with choice?
Will you cower or act?
Will you find your own voice?
Will you scream at injustice?
Will you weep for the infirmed?
Will you remain silent,
Keep atrocities unconfirmed?
Will you be a "servant"
By leading with strength?
Will you live by example,
Teaching, counseling, at length?
Will you be a lemming,
Just following the crowd,
Just letting life happen,
Not living life out loud?
Make your life count for something,
For when it's all said and done,
Please be remembered,
For all of the battles you won!
Be remembered for strength,
For the company you kept.
Be remembered for tenderness,
And all the times that you wept.
Be remembered standing proudly,
For all those who couldn't,
Instead of being one,
Who chose that they wouldn't.
Give your life meaning,
A reason, a plan.
Choose a path that will tribute,
You and your fellow man.
Be honored for living
A life blessed from above.
Be missed every day,
By your circle of love.
The path is really life's mission,
Don't make a mistake.
The decision is yours.
What choice will you make?
