The Path To Healing

Jaded
It's a long way down
To the bottom of the pit
But I've been there
And I know how it tastes
I've felt the tears that accompany the pain,
I've woken in the night with the fears.
I've cried the blood.
I've opened old wounds and poured in the salt
I know the pictures that run in the mind
I've watched them too many times
I know how it feels to slowly crawl out
Just to fall right back in
A consistency of black and white memories
Colorful feelings of death
They are all part of the game
Boiling anger, broken-hearted tears
My life seems to be
The bottom of the pit.
But you, you wipe it all away sometimes
Sometimes you help me forget
You smile sweetly
Or you look at me kindly
And some of it just melts away
Into oblivion.
