It took me almost nine months to venture into The Peddler's Daughter on Main Street in Downtown Nashua. I didn't have a good reason for waiting so long, then and I don't have a good reason now. In fact, I'm regretting not going in sooner because I lost all that time; I lost the time that I could have been enjoying that magnificent Irish pub. This pub is a can't miss for anyone, and I mean anyone, looking for good beer, good food, good atmosphere and good entertainment.

As I entered the pub, I found myself in a warm, well-lit vestibule with a hostess. As she escorted me through a second set of double doors, into the main pub and dining area, I could have sworn that I had entered a time machine or an airplane and found myself in a rural, traditional Irish pub. There is a lot of wood in the Peddler's Daughter - the floors, the chairs and the tables - and the wood is mostly unfinished. One night, my husband and I were seated at a small table in the corner, lit by a votive candle, with unpolished wood and comfortable wooden benches, covered with tasteful cushions. The walls are brick and decorated with retro advertisements, direct from Ireland, of the Irish beers that The Peddler's Daughter serves. There is Irish music being pumped over the sound system as well. The night that we were there for dinner, they had two bagpipers playing and, later on, a live cover band.

The beer selection is absolutely phenomenal. They have everything from your stereotypical American beer (think Coors, Bud and Sam Adams) to Hoegaarden, Guinness and Boddington on tap. They also had a wide variety of bottled beers and wine that you could order by the glass or by the bottle. Their food consists of mostly Irish fare although they do serve burgers, sandwiches and other pub food. The night that we ate there, I ordered the beef stew, which was served in a large but shallow bowl with mashed potatoes in the middle of it. It was amazing! The beef was tender and the entire meal was flavorful. My eyes were a lot bigger than my stomach was, that's for sure. The spices that were added to the stew topped off a perfect meal. The prices were reasonable and the service was quick, attentive and polite. It was also very well cleaned.

If you are looking for a great restaurant, with great service and entertainment, I would highly recommend The Peddler's Daughter.
