My family drives through the small town of Delano, MN quite often. If you have ever driven through, I'm sure you have noticed the little drive-in restaurant and teddy bear themed park called The Peppermint Twist! It's hard to miss. After years of driving by this place, I finally visited the other day with a friend and all of our young children, ages one to three.

Upon walking up to the restaurant counter, the first thing I noticed was the HUGE selection of food. They have everything from cheeseburgers, to chicken strips and sandwiches, sub sandwiches, fish fillets, corn dogs, mini tacos, deep fried mushrooms, cheese curd. You name it, they probably have it. They don't make anything until after you've ordered, so you know the food is going to be fresh. They featured their famous raspberry shake made with fresh raspberries, and they have a wide variety of beverages as well.

As I looked at the menu, it was a tough decision, but I decided to get a plain cheeseburger for myself, and corn dog kids meals for my two children. The kids meals come with fries, a drink, and a cup of ice cream with sprinkles and a cookie. It sounded great to me! I also decided to order the item that the restaurant was named after: The Peppermint Twist Shake with real peppermint chunks. It was a very hot sunny day, and the peppermint sounded very cool and refreshing.

After we ordered, we walked on over to the outdoor seating area to wait for them to bring our food out to us. The seating was made up of several picnic style tables in a grassy area, surrounded by a fun teddy bear theme. My children loved to explore the teddy bear stuff, and sit on various small sized rocking chairs around the yard. There is also a cute little juke box and dance floor for the kids! I was really impressed, and glad that the kids were happily entertained while we waited for our food to arrive.

When the food came to us, a few minutes later, it looked hot, fresh and delicious. My cheeseburger was on a perfectly toasted bun, and piled high with very good pickles. The kids' drinks (they both got pink lemonade) were in a small cup with a lid, complete with a fun colored straw with an animal on it. Their corn dogs were just right, and the fries were unique. The best way I can come up with to describe the fries is "rippled wedges." They were absolutely delicious. My peppermint twist shake was exactly what I expected it to be, cool and refreshing. I did however, find it to be a little bit too much to finish, even though I ordered the small size.

The kids finished their lunch, and then we went up to get their ice cream. It came in a nice small cup with sprinkles and a little animal shaped cookie. The kids of course loved it. As they ate their ice cream, they played around a little more in the charming teddy bear themed park.

No outing with the kids would be complete without a trip to the restroom for a potty break, especially since we had a little bit of a drive ahead of us. Luckily they have bathrooms on site, one for boys and one for girls. I was very pleasantly surprised at how clean and nice the bathroom was! It had a bear theme as well, with nice soap and a roll of paper towels.

Overall, we really enjoyed our trip to The Peppermint Twist Drive-In Restaurant and teddy bear themed park in Delano Minnesota. I would definitely go back again some day, and highly recommend it to anyone in the area. You don't even necessarily have to have kids to go. The food is great, and we even saw a couple older ladies there working on some knitting projects as they ate lunch. In conclusion, this place has something for everyone.
