The Perfect Christmas Tree

Mike Burnside
Christmas tree selection is a very personal one. Some families look to the traditional trees such as the Douglas Fir, which coincidentally isn't really a true fir. A bushy tree with soft needles, the Douglas fir is very popular for those families looking for a full green tree. The Nobel Fir is also highly sought after as a traditional Christmas tree. The Noble tends to grow very symmetrical even in the wild and makes for a gorgeous looking tree for Christmas.

However, when I am looking for a tree for the holidays I am usually looking for something that is different. Something that looks traditional but is unlike what most families would be displaying in their living rooms. A close friend introduced me to the Silvertip Christmas tree several years ago. The Silvertip is an unusual variety of fir tree with sparse branches and blue needles that have a silver look to their tips, henceforth, the name. Their naturally beautiful silver tips and mountain fragrance is an inviting experience.

With layers reminding you of a wedding cake, the Silvertip Christmas tree can have up to a foot in between its branches. Installing Christmas lights can be a nightmare if you are the type who needs to hide the wires. If you find green or brown sandwich ties you can conceal them easily along the branches and trunk.

However, if decorations are what your Christmas tree is all about, the Silvertip fir is your tree for the holidays. These trees display your ornaments far better than any other Christmas tree species. The wide open spaces between their branches allow your decorations to be displayed in all their glory.

There are any number of reasons why the Silvertip Christmas tree is extra special among the other traditional Christmas trees. It could be because of the many family traditions this tree has been about. It might be the silvery tips of their needles and the mountain fragrance of this tree. It possibly could even be the rarity of the tree, or maybe it is the overall experience that these beautiful Christmas trees bring to someone's home. Silvertip Christmas trees have been a traditional favorite for many families, with their long lasting value, and sturdy limbs to hold those precious ornaments.
