The Perfect Gifts for the Football Fan in Your Life

Another year is coming to a close, and the NCAA and NFL seasons march toward another postseason. It's time to start thinking about what you are going to get that special someone for the holidays this year. Whether the football fan you know lives at the stadium on the weekend, or in the recliner, this guide has some gift ideas for you. As a football fan myself, I would like all of these gifts!

Glommits - Half glove, half mitten, these are perfect for football fans at the stadium, or on their way to work this winter. The finger end of the mitten opens, and half-covered fingers underneath allow for good dexterity. Be sure to get a pair that is wind proof, and preferably with Thinsulate lining.

Binoculars - Every sports fan needs a decent pair of binoculars. Be sure not to buy a pair that is too big and bulky to carry around all day. Find a pair that fits in case the size of a small to mid-sized purse. These will be nice to have outside the stadium as well.

Team Apparel - Whether it be a sweatshirt, t-shirt, hat, jacket, etc., a true football fan will want to sport the logo of his or her favorite team. Look for vintage styles and logos, if your football fan is stocked up on the current gear.

Autographed Player Memorabilia - Any football fan has favorite players from their past and/or present. Why not get them an autographed picture, football, jersey or trading card? This gift is guaranteed to score you some huge points this holiday season!

MP3 Player + AM/FM Radio - The MP3 player is nice for carrying around favorite songs, but the radio is essential to the sports fan. With pre-game, in-game and post-game coverage standard these days, a radio is a must have. Who knows, maybe the portability will get that special someone to get out and walk off a few extra football game beers.

Blanket - An often forgotten and underestimated football stadium accessory is the blanket. Look for one with a team logo, but the most important consideration for a blanket is its ability to trap heat. It can get brutally cold at the stadium in the fall and winter, so help to keep someone warm with this gift.

Bar & Grill Gift Certificate - This is a no-brainer, and a crowd pleaser. A gift certificate to the local sports bar and grill will be a hit with any football fan. Be sure to add enough for some drinks.

NFL Red Zone Subscription - If you have never experienced NFL Red Zone, it is a must for any pro football fan. Basically, the channel shows every point scored on Sunday, with no commercial interruptions. They jump from game to game as teams get inside their opponent's 20 yard line. It is awesome, especially if there is a fantasy football fan in your house.

Game Tickets - It's not too late to purchase some football tickets as a holiday gift. Buy them directly, or check out one of the ticket exchanges online.

Game Weekend Getaway - If you are looking to go big, purchase some tickets, reserve a hotel room and spend a few days getting to know the home town of his favorite team. If you want to do something really special, try to get college football bowl tickets, or NFL Super Bowl tickets. You will both have a great time hitting the town before and after the big game.

Whatever you choose, and however you celebrate, I wish you a happy holiday season!
