The Perfect Job?

Kimmie Cee
Being in my twenties has awakened me to the reality that more often than not people don't like their jobs. Some of us really hate the work that their doing, others don't mind the work but get bored from the lack of challenge and stimulation, others generally like what they are doing but at times get tired of the routine, and then there are the very few who love what they do and look forward to coming to work every single day.

I've only ever been told that they love their job and look forward to it every day by one person and thats Eve my hairstylist. Now does she actually want to come into work after a night of hard partying? I'm dubious but I'll give her the benefit of doubt. Somehow though, I'm sure even she would rather be nursing her hangover passed out at home.

My question is this, is it possible to one day find the job that one will never stop enjoying? Does that perfect employment exist?

I enjoy my job a lot. On great days I would even venture to say that I love my job. I have a great working environment, the material I work with in interesting and engaging, and I get to meet interesting people. But like all desk jobs, there is a matter of routiness to the work that at times propel me to think that I've got to do something more.

I know people in various walks of life and in various types of jobs. A lot of them are satisfied with the money they are earning as a means to do other things whether it be support a family, go on vacation, purchase the latest electronic toys, or even a new car. But many exhibit the same frustration and lack of enthusiasm for wanting to physically be at their jobs.

If I had a nickel for everytime I heard "I hate Mondays" or "I wish it were Friday already" uttered I would probably be able to buy myself something shiny and pretty.

I am inclined to believe that there is no perfect job that one would be perfectly happy with. Even doctors who love medicine may be tired of dealing with the same patients day in and day out, writers who are hit with writers block and chefs who love cooking and yet may be stuck creating the same menu every night.

To those lucky ones who have found that perfection though, bravo! Thank you for giving the rest of us hope that one day we may find that too.

I've struggled with this idea. Do jobs inherently suck, in which case just don't worry about it? Or are many people not in the right job for them, which means they should be switching?
