The Perfect Rinse for Long, Dark Hair

Less Tangles and Super Shine!!

Kathleen Coleman

I have used salon products for my hair in the past, but I have generally felt like I over paid for a haircare product that eventually loses it's magic. As usual I looked to mom and grandma for their tips and tricks on how things were done in "the old days". Now, don't get me wrong, I still buy a name brand salon product here and there, but now that I have started a weekly rinse, I don't need to buy a shelf full of products anymore. My hair is nearly waist long and dark brown, and the problems I face are tangles and a dull, lusterless appearance. My old fashioned remedy is a rosemary, apple cider vinegar rinse.

I was skeptical at first, but I tried it anyway. I brewed a few sprigs of Rosemary in a coffee pot, just enough for a cup or two of rosemary water. Then I took a one liter tea pitcher, added 5 caps of Apple Cider Vinegar and a 1/3 cup of the rosemary water, and filled the pitcher half way with tap water. Save your rosemary water in a jar or sportsbottle in the fridge up to two weeks. After I shampooed my hair I poured the mixture on my hair, and did not rinse. When my hair was wet it did smell slightly of vinegar; so I had my doubts if this had been a good idea. After my hair dried the smell was completely gone, and my has was shiny and easier than ever to manage. I have hair that tangles even while I'm brushing it, but with this rinse it nearly eliminated the problem altogether.

I have a nine year old daughter who was blessed with the thickest, dark hair, but she was cursed with my tangles, and after using this once a week once or twice a week I dont even have to use detangler anymore!

For Blonde Hair use Chamomile Instead of Rosemary

Thank you for this tip. My hair is naturally curly and tangles easily. I shall try this rinse. I am using more and more natural products also and like the lack of chemicals in this recipe.
