The Perfect Season

David Kenny
When the NFL season starts each year the fan talk begins about which team will go to and win the Superbowl. Most fans believe that they team can go all the way to the Superbowl. Believing that even with a few bumps in the road, their team can still find a way to get to the Superbowl. Fans love talking about how great their favorite teams are. Which team is the best? Or which team is the best of all time?

It is not until a team is about 9-0 or 10-0 that fans get excited about the opportunity that their team will have a perfect season. The perfect season is the ultimate reward to a fan. With a perfect season of 19-0 and a Superbowl championship, Fans can then talk about their team being the best team in NFL history.

This season the talk is about the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints. Both the Colts and the Saints are 13-0. It is the first time in the NFL's history that two teams are undefeated this late in the season. The Colts players don't care about the perfect season. They have sad that it is more important to win the Superbowl then to win all of your regular season games and then to lose the Superbowl. Like the New England Patriots did in 2007. However the New Orleans Saints players believe that they owe their fans to at least try their best to win all the games and have a perfect season.

After the Saints tell their fans they are going to go 16-0, they played the Dallas Cowboys ,who had to win the game to make the playoff and who have not win a game in December in 2 years, came in the New Orleans Saints house and beat up the Saints. The Cowboys won the game decisively, taking the lead early and never letting up on the Saints defense. Now that the Saints lost, are they going to start a down spiral of losses going into the playoffs?

The Colts won their week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Most of the game was an offensive shootout. The Jaguars were winning the game by 3 with 6:23 left in the game. The Colts quarterback Peyton Manning throws a 65 yard touchdown to Reggie Wayne to give the Colts the win. Peyton Manning threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns in the win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Indianapolis Colts are the only left in the NFL with an undefeated record. The Colts are 14-0 and have the New York Jets at home and then they go to Buffalo to play the Bills in week 17. The Colts just might go 19-0 and be in the discussion for the best team in NFL history.
