The Perfect Super Bowl Party

Each February, guys and gals all over the country crowd into a living room with their eyes glued to the big screen. Yes, the Super Bowl for many, has become an annual holiday. For some, it has become their favorite holiday.

Even though the Super Bowl is two months away, many football fanatics have already begun planning a Super Bowl party. The best parties are the ones that have been adequately planned well in advance. The Super Bowl is arguable the biggest sporting event of the year and there are a plethora of ideas on how to plan a Super Bowl party.

What makes the Super Bowl special is not only the game itself, but it's the camaraderie of friends and family. In order to enjoy your party to the fullest, you must invite the right people. You don't want to make the mistake of inviting just anyone. A great Super Bowl party consists of close friends, not the people that are out party hopping in search of free beer. Keep the guest list at a minimum. Invite the people that you truly want to hang out with. A suitable guestlist may include about 10 to 20 people. It's recommended that you stay below the 20 guest limit. It's a headache to clean up after that many people.

What also makes these parties enjoyable is when the party consists of people cheering for different teams. Hearing people argue over football can be quite entertaining, as long as it's done in good nature. A big screen TV and surround sound can take the party to another level. Not everyone has the privilege of owning a big screen with surround sound, but it sure can up the excitement. You can still throw a memorable Super Bowl party without those special amenities.

You can't throw the perfect Super Bowl party without good food and beer. It's always best to provide your guests with the food and beer, but not everyone can afford that. Most guests don't mind the Bring Your Own Beer (BYOB) parties. Out of courtesy, most guest bring their own food (chips, dip, side dishes) anyway. The ultimate football food is the bratwurst. Almost everyone loves a nice juicy, plump Johnsonville bratwurst. You can add flavor by simmering the brats in a pot of cheap beer for a couple of hours. Spice it up with some cut up onions. Obviously, this would need to be done early in the day. Make sure you have plenty of chips and dip. Place a bowl of peanuts on the coffee table. Hamburgers are a must considering that not everyone can handle the bratworth. Side dishes such as potato salad and baked beans go great with the bugers and brats.

An idea for dessert would be the 'football cake'. What you do is you bake a regular sheet cake and spread it with white icing. Then you put green food coloring on the icing and use M&M's as the lines in the field. In the end zones, it's best to use different colored M&M's to sketch the names of the two teams. It's recommended that you use twizzlers as the field goals. It will be a big hit with your guests.

The refrigerator must be stacked with beer. Unless you and your friends are alcohol free, which it's okay if you are, beer and football just go together. It's almost like peanut butter and jelly. It's hard to imagine watching a Super Bowl without a cold one in hand at all times, but the drinking should be controlled and handled responsibly. Funneling beer is discouraged.

What makes going a football game so special? Tailgating, right? Tailgating has become a favorite past-time for fans of all sports. Give your party a tailgating atmosphere. Tell your guest to arrive early in the afternoon, maybe around two-ish. Get out some lounge chairs, bring out the cooler, and fire up the grill. Turn on some music and just tailgate in your backyard. That way, everyone can hang out outside, which would reduce the mess inside you would have to clean up later. Once kickoff time arrives, everyone can gather around the TV and enjoy the game.

It's not fancy, but who wants to throw and elegant Super Bowl party. It's about guys and gals coming together for one day and acting like complete football fools. Man, just writing this article has me pumped about this coming Super Bowl.
