Why would you think doctors and any health nuts say it's so healthy for you to work out every day if it truly weren't healthy to do so? Working out every day keeps your metabolism up there, for one. The faster your metabolism works, the more food can be processed through your body, meaning that you can stay looking in shape much easier because your body is more used to the work that you're putting it through every morning.
You also burn many calories every morning when you work out (I'm not saying it's required to work out in the morning, this time just happens to work the best for me). These calories that you've burned are typically just the ones you have stored from food eaten recently and what not, but after these calories are gone your body simply feeds on the fat you have stored, and you will become slimmer!
Regardless of whether or not you're losing weight, though, you're getting into shape. You can go home everyday and pig out, you can even consume twice as many calories as you burned while working out, and you'll still be in good shape. You're going to build muscle and your body will become more used to the work out regardless of how unhealthy your eating choices are. In fact, if you really want to eat unhealthily, the only way I think you could justify it is with working out on a regular basis, to assume that you're making up for all of the unhealthy choices you're making.
Building muscle not only makes you look good, but it also shows that your body is in a much healthier state, and also further increases your metabolism. Fat cells only burn about 1/3 the calories as muscle cells do. Simply having muscle will increase the amount of food you can safely consume each day. This is why you'll see body builders with this huge appetite, but that never gain weight even while not working out.
Not only are the physical benefits to a daily exercise great, but I'm finding the emotional/mood-lifting benefits to be great as well. After working out everyday for a long time, I can easily say that I feel much better as a person on the days where I work out as compared to the days where I didn't work out. After working out in the morning, not only do I feel more accomplished, but the endorphines I released while working out are actually going to make me feel better throughout the day. These natural pain killers that you secrete during a work out actually make you feel better afterwards. So why not get a daily exercise, get into shape, and feel the best you ever have in your life?
