The Picture

Julia Jean
Cassady was up in the attic of the 1898 Victorian Home that she had recently bought. She was going to accomplish her dream of turning this into a Bed and Breakfast. It was picture perfect for this. Cassady could see the complete finish in her mind of what it was to be. The contractors were starting their work on this old lovely home the next day. Before they come, Cassady wanted to go through the house completely one more time.

When Cassady bought this diamond in the rough, it was left abandoned for 25 years and was falling apart. There were obvious signs of kids hanging out in the past and maybe a transient or two who might of stayed for a while. But now it was all alone and vacant. It was all hers.

Cassady leaned over and picked up a picture that was lying near the wall in the oversized hot attic. Next to the picture was a clipping from an old newspaper. She picked it up and looked at the man in the picture. He was standing in front of this house. He had a full, long mustache that flipped on each side. She turned it over to find the name Henry Curtis Andrews written on the back in faded ink. She wanted more information about her house. Realizing now, that her house became more interesting to her, she was determined to find out more about it.

After a few days of researching, Cassady found that Mr Andrews never married. He lived in this big house alone, all his life. He was a blacksmith by trade and that explained some of the tools in the barn. Gazing out the window, she thought what Mr A would think of her turning this into her dream of her own B & B? She picked up his picture and held it. Looking at his eyes, she silently promised to remodel it as close to its original look as she could. Thank goodness she had a picture of the Mr A in front of his house to go by. He worked hard on his land and home. She vowed to do the same in his honor.
