The Picture of a Perfect Date

The picture of a perfect date looks different for everybody. Some people want to go dancing, some want to go out for drinks, and some may want an extravagant day at the spa together. Whatever your perfect date looks like, if it is with the right person, nothing can be wrong or missing.

A married couple with two young children was due for a date together; they were more than ready for some time alone. KC was the wife, and she told her husband Geoff that all she wanted was for him to do all of the planning, that this would be excellent for her. She said that she was always the one to organize their plans, whether they were for the entire family, individually, or dates for the two of them. She had been saying this for quite some time, and the day was finally here.

A little bit of background on this couple is necessary so that you can imagine what their perfect date may look like. Geoff is a hard working man and father. He is a provider in every way and cares deeply for his family. He was a jock in school and still likes sports. Being outdoors is enjoyable to him in many different ways. Romance is something that he thinks about often and tries hard to make KC feel as special as she is. KC is a mom and preparing to become a psychology college student. She loves nature and feels at home among animals and people alike. Oftentimes she spreads herself too thin and has been working hard on not doing so. She works hard to keep the family healthy and content and the house clean. She is a freelance writer and also belongs to a paranormal research group. Simplicity and the small things mean a lot to her.

A beautiful Sunday brought the promise of laughter and fun. Geoff picked up the babysitter while KC showered and dressed. She still had no idea where they were going, but was very excited and felt giddy and young. She and Geoff left home and drove off into the warm and sunny day. KC was anticipating a wonderful day and she and Geoff were both glowing. Oh, how special she felt!

They arrived at their destination and KC was stunned at the thoughtfulness Geoff had put into this and the beauty of the land. Here they were, at beautiful waterfalls, with a picnic basket. They hiked a bit on the trails and marveled at the nature all around them. At certain points during their walk, they would stop to cuddle and look at the tranquil falls. They leisurely strolled back to their vehicle to find the perfect picnic spot.

Once at the best spot for them, Geoff told KC to relax and enjoy herself while he set up their picnic. KC took a few deep breaths and felt the warm air and waterfalls fill her lungs. She had been waiting for such a day, when she and Geoff could hike, walk, talk, and enjoy some food on their own. They were in a secluded area and the romance of the moment was tangible. She walked back to their area and the scene was breathtaking. Geoff had spread a blanket on a large rock and set up their simply elegant lunch. Among the items she found cheese, crackers, a cream cheese spread, fresh fruit, and chocolate. Geoff was holding two wine glasses filled with sparkling juice. They kissed, then sat together and fed each other slowly and laughed when they dropped food. The sound of the water was a constant reminder of the beauty they were surrounded by and a gentle trickling waterfall was nearby. Geoff presented KC with beautiful roses and she breathed in their fresh and fragrant scent. They took pictures, and Geoff carved their initials into a tree. Their love would be forever remembered in that place. KC was overwhelmed by that moment and cried tears of joy. Geoff held her and then packed up so they could hike near the falls and get to the top of the mountain. They packed up the car and drove back to the bottom of the mountain.

First they walked through the small information center and gift shop, laughing at how the kids would love the stuffed animals there. Then they held hands and began the journey of a lifetime together. You see, many parts of their lives had felt like climbing a mountain and they always reached the top together. Geoff always promised KC a rose at the top of every mountain. Since KC was to begin a new journey in college, she knew she was beginning a new climb, so today's climb was very symbolic. Most of the climb was made easier by paths and stairs. They went at an even pace and enjoyed the scenery. Again, they stopped sporadically and absorbed moments with each other. When the stairs ended, they took more pictures and stared down the falls, as they were at the top. Though they were at the top of the waterfall, they were not yet at the top of the mountain. They climbed the rest of the way and celebrated their victory.

During their descent, they stopped at other locations and admired the wildlife and foliage. They were relaxed, content, and felt so perfectly in love. Once they reached the bottom, they shared another kiss and a look back at their romantic adventure.

KC thanked Geoff on their way home and he vowed to do this again. This was their picture of the perfect date. Yes, the scenery and beauty of the waterfalls made their date wonderful and special. But what made their date perfect was the company of each other and the fact that they were so in love.
