For every step the dancer takes
For every graceful move she makes
For every breath we're apt to take
The Piper must be paid.

It's more than just some rule in life
that some endure and some live by;
mother, father - husband, wife

To some the cost is much too high
and soon lament and cry out "Why?"
but still life slips through hands held high...
The Piper must be paid

If seeking fortune; you must work
If seeking strength; your soul will hurt
To gain at all, while here on earth,
The Piper must be paid

The so-called short cuts may seem fast,
but short cuts rarely ever last.
Your future's based upon your past...
