The Planets as They Relate to Magic
They Have Power that You Can Use to Further Your Needs and Desires
Mercury is the first planet in the Solar system, so we will start with him. Mercury is the messenger, and the great communicator; use him when you want to get, or send, information in a reliable or speedy manner. He rules logic, thoughts, memory, and truths. He is also associated with fire and air, and works well in spells of this kind.
Mars is the next planet we will look into. He is, as everybody knows, the God of war. Use him in spells that deal with strength, impatience, hostility, and war. Mars is also the ruler of willpower and the masculine and can help you get in touch with these energies.
Venus, the Goddess, and planet, of love, deals with beauty, marriage, romance and passion. Venus is the most used planet in love and friendship spells, for in these aspects, she is queen. She is also the ruler of the feminine and harmony, so remember to use her influence in workings of these types.
Saturn is the stern ruler. He is the keeper of the powers of time, structure, discipline, and boundaries. Probably the psychologist of the other planets, Saturn is the most level and responsible of all the planets. He is also the ruler of respect for others and career, so be sure to use Saturn in that spell to help you get a good job.
Jupiter is the king of kings. When it comes to size, no one has got him beat. The big kid on the block, Jupiter has power over expansion, the big picture, growth, and generosity. Although big and intimidating, Jupiter is really a softy at heart. He is the perfect influence for a new family that is just starting out. He is also ruler of learning and education, so remember to use him in spells regarding school and tests.
The Sun, although not a planet, was once considered one. Probably the most worshiped astrological body in known history. The Sun is ruler of light, ego, life, protection, rule, and leadership. The Sun could be considered to be the ruler of all rulers, for it is the Sun that gives us light, and life itself. Also the ruler of unity, the Sun can be used in almost any spell you want, for it is also the symbol of raw power.
The Moon could be considered the Goddess to the Suns' God. She is also one of the most revered heavenly bodies in history. Her effects are felt here on earth everyday, and just as she controls the ebb and flow of the worlds' oceans, she also affects women's monthly cycle; both the Moon and women have a 28 day cycle. She controls ebb and flow, emotions, fertility, planting, cycles and nurturing. Be sure to use the Moons' power whenever needed, for she loves to help out when she can.
The more recently discovered planets have energies as well. Neptune is the ruler of inspiration, transcendent beauty, faith, belief, personal desires and nurturing. Uranus is the intellectual of the bunch ruling genius, eccentricity, rebelliousness, elections, explosives and theories. Finally we come to Pluto. He is the ruler of transformation, power, extremes, mystery, magic, and the unconscious mind. These planets can be used just as well as the others, even though they haven't been known for as long as the others. Remember that planets' influence can be used in many ways, and bring much power and definition to your magical workings.
