The Playwright

The Playwright

As the light illuminates my face and hands,
I sit staring at the blank white screen,
the blinking black vertical line waiting for me to start typing.
Detailed outline by my side.
The vision of the theatrical burlesque setting.

My mind is empty as the soft pink teacup in my tired, dry hands.
half a year, establishing, growing and fostering the ever evolving characters.
Intensifying the storyline to a climax.
But...

It is only an outline,
sitting here staring at the blank white screen.
The black letters start to show up.
As I discover the way the burlesque beauty speaks

Nearly two decades go by,
when I rediscover this lavish story in a box.
Finally...

Brought to life by the players.
To be seen and heard the way it was intended,

...So many years ago.
