So many of us are going to be demanding that Social Services take Nadya Suleman's eight babies away from her. I was a social worker. I filed what is called a 51 A more times than I can count and for reasons that were less apparent than Suleman and her 14 children. Those of us who have had an intuitive feeling about this woman may have our intuitions confirmed. Certainly we don't want to say "I told you so" but what we do want is for others to learn from this disaster (and yes to many it is a disaster) and for the babies to be safe. The LA News has published an interesting article which I'll share and/or sum up for you.

The police were called to Nadya Suleman's last two homes are you ready for this - 7 times. Now I'm 20 years older than she. I lived in a non-blended stepfamily with three non-blended kids and a couple of ex spouses and the police never came to our house.

On January 9, 2008 one of Nady's kids were locked in a room and the police had to pick a lock.

On May 12 neighbors called the police after the front door was left open. The front door was left open with 6 little children inside? Well I don't know about the latter but I am guessing that or the police would not have been called.

aha! On July 7, the police escorted the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services during an investigation into the well being of the six children. The allegations were unfounded according to officials. As someone with experience allegations are often unfounded because they find food and a roof over the kids head and head back to work. The fact that L.A. Country asked for a police escort (not normally done) says there is more to this than meets the eye.

On August 10 neighbors called police again after the front door was left open. The neighbors thought someone had broken in.

On October 27 Suleman called police because one of her children was missing. The child had followed the grandmother around the block. And she says she can take care of 8 more!

On January 23, 2009 one of the kids called the police for unknown reasons. In her defense there are times when kids sometimes do call 911. After three times the parent can be faced with a fine here in MA. On January 23 there could have been a reason; however, other than just for fun or to see what happens. After all they had been there 5 times already.

On February 23 police responded to reports of a man with a gun at Suleman's home. It was not loaded.

Clearly she is out of her mind thinking she can handle eight more children. Social Services should taken those poor babies away from her. She is obviously not a fit parent.
