The Poop Adventure

Debbie
All mothers have their horror stories about baby poop or throw up. My mother always loves to tell the story about how she caught my older sister in her crib eating out of her diaper that she had managed to get off. The mothers in my stay at home mommy group enjoy telling stories of kids pooping in the middle of a bath or throwing up all over their pants right before they leave for work. I had usually been both grateful that my perfect little girl had not done these horrible things to me yet also feeling left out. I felt almost like I had missed out on a special part of being a mother. The wonderful part that gives you great stories to tell for the rest of your life. The great motherhood adventure. However, lucky for me, I was soon to get more than enough poop stories.

One day I went to go pick my daughter up from her grandmothers house. When I got to her grandmothers house I noticed that she smelled like she needed a diaper change, Her diaper had failed and the poop was all up her back, covering her brand new dress she got for her first birthday. I had to try so hard to get the dress over her head with out getting poop in her hair or anywhere else on her body. The funny thing is, right after this happened I felt like a real mom, I had my first gross bodily function experience that I hear so many mothers talk about. I went home and called all my family and friends and told them my story and how, at that moment, I finally felt like a real mother. Its funny how something so nasty as poop can make you feel so good! I finally had a great adventure story to tell all other mothers that know. In the next few days my daughter gave me a few more stories to tell. Turns out she had a stomach flu and would wake up for almost a week covered in poop from head to toe, diaper falling off, and poop all over her crib, pillow, blankets and stuffed animals. Now, from that week, I have more poop stories than I ever wanted to have. I know I had wished to feel like a real mom but after the stomach flu, I wish I was back just listening to others and their stories, and just feeling sorry for them because I had my perfect daughter who would never, ever poop like that!
