The Poor "BIG FIVE" Part 2

By: Randy Jones

Well it has been an exciting last few days since I last posted those oil companies close to our hearts. I say close because giving an arm and leg for gas is about as close as you can get. So are we ready to see just how poor the "Big Five" are this week? Let's take a look.

Exxon: first-quarter profits = $10.7 billion - up 69%

Royal Dutch Shell: (Shell) first-quarter profits = $6.3 billion - up 30%

ConocoPhilliphs: first-quarter profits = $3 billion - up 43%

BP: first-quarter profits = $5.48 billion = down from last years first quarter of $5.60 billion.

Chevron: first-quarter profits = $6.2 billion, yeah I would have waited a week late to release that as well.

So here you can see that some of these are really struggling to make ends meet. The national average for a gallon of gas is currently set at $3.88 per gallon as released by the Dept of Energy. I would recommend that if you live in a town or area that is still setting at $4.15 or for that matter $4.00 or more a gallon, just politly ask if you can have the corporate office number to that location and make an inquiry as to why they are setting 10 to 20 cents higher than those in a five or ten mile radius. Just keep in mind this is not the fault of the cashier or store manager so please do not go in and blow up your frustration on them.
