The Poor People's Guide to Wealth, Part 3: Change Your Surroundings

Beauty & Femme
Of all the parts of this series, I think this one is the most obvious. If we are looking for a new beginning, one of the first things we need to do is change what we are exposed to. This means changing some of the things you watch on t.v., changing what you listen to on the radio, changing your circle of friends, and choosing to hang around family members or co-workers that are positive. You have to surround yourself with positive people if you want to gain success.

Some of the people in our lives hold us back. They aren't doing anything with their lives, and they keep us from becoming something in our lives. Sometimes they outright discourage you from doing things they know you want to do. These people are low lives and they are probably never going to be anything, so don't waste your time listening to them. They want to hold you back so that you will be in the same rut they're in. Misery loves company.

For some, there aren't that many positive or successful people in your surroundings, so you may have a hard time finding those positive people. In order for you to be able to spot the positive ones, you will have to learn to think more positively yourself. You may want to read The Poor People's Guide To Wealth, Pt. 2: Retrain Your Mind, to help you. Also, taking the following steps can help you change your environment.

1. Weed out the "nay sayers". The "nay sayers" are the people who tell you that you can't do something. Basically, they are the people that discourage you. Notice who those people are, and limit the time you spend around them. When they attempt to discourage you again, say, "I can do whatever I want to do in my life, and you can't stop me, so don't even try." This will stop them dead in their tracks and show them that you mean business. You can also go as far as telling them that they are a discouragement to you and you don't want to spend time with them anymore.

2. Find something that does encourage you. Is there any songs that you've heard that makes you feel motivated? What about any books, t.v. shows, or articles? Find something that motivates you and watch it, listen to it, and read it all the time.

3. Expose yourself to new people and places. This may be tough at first, but meeting new people and seeing new places will help you meet people that may have more success and positivity than the people you are used to. Just go out there and get a feel for a different environment. It's okay to be picky about who you want to be around you. You don't have to hang out with people that suck just to be nice. Always be respectful, but don't settle for something you don't want.

4. Develop some sort of spirituality. I don't care what anybody says, if you don't have a relationship with God, you can just forget about having true success. Look at some of these celebrities that have all the money, fame, women, and property they can ever dream of, yet they're on drugs or have some type of addiction. Just because you have money, doesn't mean you are fulfilled and happy. Only God can provide true happiness. He knows our heart. He knows what we want and what we need. These celebrities have only been provided with what they want. They have none of what they need because they live a life that doesn't involve God. Develop a relationship with God and you will have your needs and desires fulfilled.

It's important to understand that your surroundings can contribute to your success, or it can contribute to your down fall. If you are serious about changing your life, you will do whatever it takes to get there-even if it means cutting some negative people off.
