The P.O.W

Robert Miller

As the soldier looks out over the

bright blue sky, he sees his

enemy from the corner of his eye.

He dives for cover hoping not to be

seen, looking for a

shot that's smooth and clean.

The enemy sneaks up from behind the

tree, pointing at the

soldier thinking he shouldn't be free.

With his gun in hand he leads the

soldier away to a

hidden place that's far astray.

The soldier knows that being captured

could be horror, as he

now becomes a Prisoner Of War.

He thinks in his mind how he entered

this plight, as he tries

to escape with all his might.

He looks around the room a door beyond

he does see, now he waits for

the chance when he must try and flee.

Through this door, he found his chance,

an enemy is in his

way, the soldier takes his stance.

He says to himself 'It's kill or be killed',

he was trained for

this and is very highly skilled.

To the bloody fight with this brutal

enemy, the soldier

escapes and is once again free.
