The Power of Lingerie in Seduction: How to Buy Lingerie

Second Installment from the Art of Sensual Seduction

Whether you are a pro at the lingerie game or a beginner this guide can help. Just as a majority of bras that women buy are the wrong cup size, and/or measurements lingerie is often worn incorrectly. As a former employee at V.S. I know first hand how ill fitting some outfits are-at the time of purchase! Buying underwear that you grow out of 6 months after purchase or no longer enjoy is one matter-buying the wrong article of clothing at time of purchase is another.

No matter if you are a size 2 or size 22 you can find great fitting lingerie that will accentuate the good rather than push out your flaws. The "secret" to finding a great fit first knowing your size. I mean taking a real good look at your body, taking measurements, and trying on items. Many women are afraid to know or even say their true size. Some women just feel better saying and/or wearing a smaller size than they actually wear. If you are a size 9/10 but squeeze yourself into a size 7 obviously this is a problem. Not only will your undergarments not fit, wearing a size or two too small can actually make you look larger than you are by pushing and squeezing to cover extra area creating "spillage". Do yourself a favor and buy the size that fits no matter what the number on the tag reads. If you're not ok with your size there are better ways to deal with the extra weight than being in denial and buying clothing that doesn't fit.

Many higher end department stores and free standing lingerie shops offer bra sizing and consultation. You can do-it-yourself by purchasing a plastic or fabric tape measurer from a fabric store. To measure your bust you start from the center of your chest, winding the tape around you until the tape meets the start of the tape at the center of your chest. You would measure your waist from the point where a pair of dress pants would meet your belly button. Your hips would be measured from the widest part where your hip bones are. Write your measurements down and take them with you to the store. You should know from the chest measurement how wide your chest is when you look for a bra, get the cup size you believe you wear, and one size larger and smaller. The measurement of your chest is the number prior to the cup size on a bra for example: 38 D your chest width is 38" and D is the cup size.

The final step in choosing lingerie is fabric, texture, and cut of the garment. As time goes by and you purchase a range of style and fit you will find what works best with your frame and shape. For those with a large bust but wide waist you can wear form fitting bras, empire waist baby doll slips, and lingerie that fits snug just under your breast and fits loosely throughout your waist. For those with a smaller bust you can find a great fitting bra or corset that clings to you and shows off your waistline, keeping a slim silhouette throughout and emphasizing the length of your torso. For plus sized women keep in mind that fabric cut, pattern, and finish can go a long way. Layered sheer fabrics, bras and tops to emphasize a large bust, empire waist garments, and panties with an attached skirt can work wonders. Most of all remember to have fun with your choices and styles!
