The Power of Practicing Positive Thinking Through Life

Meditating and Reflecting to Achieve a Better Version of You

Learning to have better control of your thoughts and emotions, through reflection or meditation, will let you have a positive approach in the way you think and act.

Sometimes anger, selfishness, depression, greed, frustration and addiction absorb a person's life. It is worth an examination of conscience to see what matters most in our lives, whether positive or negative.

One of the best methods for achieving this is reflection or meditation, no matter your religion or creed, sex or age.

This will help you have a good mental and physical health at the same time, recognizing that 80 percent of potential diseases lie in the mind. Hence this method is useful for treating various diseases, such as heart problems, diabetes, cancer, digestive disorders, poor concentration, stress and neurosis.

Meditation or reflection can be like taking a shower every day, you don't think about the water falling, you simply experience the freshness of the moment you relax and enjoy that time. Similarly you need to debug your mind with useless thoughts and reformat the disk with positive mental projections.

Doing this will give you the ability to control the 80,000+ thoughts we have each day. When that capacity is achieved it is possible to transmit positive energy to those in need, "says Anne Bonin, director of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University.

Most people suffer thinking about the roles they serve every day and we tend to believe that this role in life is our ultimate identity, when the truth is consciousness, soul, spirit or being.

How? There are many forms of meditation, people can do with instrumental music or in silence, sitting or standing, with eyes open or closed. It is best to take the position that offers more comfort and find a private space. Five minutes may be enough for those who are beginning to apply this discipline in life.

There are six steps to achieve harmony between your reasoning and your feelings. You can practice when you get up and before bedtime. Gradually you will be able to manage the concentration levels needed:

1. Relaxation. Begin by inhaling and exhaling slowly and deeply. These breathing exercises help you relax and oxygenate your body, releasing tension and relaxing muscles of all organs to enter the next step.

2. Internal observation. Here you start to experience that state of relaxation, wellness and begin to feel the desire to know. Who are you? What can I improve in my life? Etc..

3. Affirmation. You ask yourself what generates peace. If you keep experimenting dig deeper to understand what is your nature. If you feel good, seek how you can also serve others. Hold this relaxation state.

4. Contemplation. At this stage you are no longer able to be distracted. Bring your heart every time that you have created peace. For example, when you look at the smile of a baby, when you eat breakfast with your family on the weekend, walking around the field or when you know you've done a beneficent action. Balancing your reasoning and feeling it by experiencing inner peace.

5. Experimentation. You stop to think and live that feeling of pleasure that feeds you. Maximize space to radiate that peace in your environment, family, society, or in a particular situation. It is a way to donate some of your positive energy.

6. Maintenance. It is time to bring those good vibes to the actions, lest they fall into illusion. When you get involved with the outside world you must bear in mind that is important to have awareness on the way you speak to others verbally and physically, with gestures and actions.
