The Precious Lamb

nutuba
When at the cross I humbly kneel
And look inside myself to see
My righteous acts and deeds, I feel
It's rotten junk, worthless debris.

The world may praise my heart, my deeds,
But only One knows who I am.
My rancid heart, e'er aching needs
The cleansing blood, a worthy lamb.

When flesh and bone are stripped away,
My heart made bare for all to see,
My soul is reeking with decay,
This spotless lamb was slain for me.

Someday we all must face the cross.
Christ asks, "Who do you say I am?"
He offers you a life not lost.
For you he died, the precious lamb.
