THE PREMISE

Eleven celebrities are dumped in the Costa Rican jungle for three weeks with no luxuries. They will compete against each other in "trials" for food, luxuries, and immunity from America's vote. The series is hosted by Damien Fahey & Myleene Klass.

THE CELEBRITIES

Heidi Montag:

Heidi, married to co-contestant Spencer Pratt, stars in the MTV series "The Hills." I get the feeling Heidi has no clue what she signed up for. During the premiere episode of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here," Heidi made the statement that she was looking forward to getting a tan and working out in the jungle. She thought she was going on a "spa vacation without the spa."

Spencer Pratt:

Spencer also stars in "The Hills" with his wife, Heidi. During his first interview, Spencer promised to be "the next level of super villain."

Stephen Baldwin:

Stephen Baldwin is a staple of celebrity reality TV starring in a few reality TV shows including "The Celebrity Mole," "Celebrity Apprentice," and now: I'm a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here." He's also starred in many movies in the last 20 years such as "The Usual Suspects."

Janice Dickinson:

Janice claims to have coined the term "supermodel" therefore naming herself as the first supermodel. She also starred in several reality TV shows including "The Surreal Life," "America's Next Top Model," and her own reality TV series, "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency."

John Salley:

John is a retired basketball player and is one of the hosts of "The Best Damn Sports Show Period."

Lou Diamond Phillips:

Lou is an accomplished actor who has been in a number of hit movies such as "Young Guns," "Young Guns II," and "La Bamba." He's my favorite to win.

Sanjaya Malakar:

Sanjaya's claim to fame is he stint on "American Idol." Based on his performance during the premiere episode, Sanjaya might just go all the way.

Patti Blagojevich:

Patti is the wife of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevish.

Torrie Wilson: Torrie is a retired wrestler who worked with both the WCW and the WWE.

Frangela:

Frangela is the name of the comedy duo made up of best friends Frances Callier and Angela V. Shelton. They have appeared on many TV shows including "Best Week Ever."

CAMP LIFE

The premiere of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here" highlighted the celebrities' first 48 hours in the jungle. They had a long trek through the jungle to their camp which was less then what they had expected. By far, the young couple Heidi and Spencer was hit hardest by the bare-bones camp. Remember, Heidi was some how under the impression that she was about to embark on a fun vacation where she could work on her tan and work out her abs.

There's obviously a pretty big maturity gap between Spencer and Heidi and the rest of the campers. The couple whined and complained that they didn't want to stay with a bunch of people who were not the same caliber of celebrity as themselves. At one point, the couple left the camp and was gone for so long that the other celebrities thought the couple had walked off of the show. Heidi's and Spencer's things were divided among the rest of the celebrities which incited Spencer into a major temper tantrum when the couple suddenly showed up again. So far, Spencer is living up to his promise of becoming the "next level of villain."

THE TRIALS

Before the first trial, the teams were realigned into men vs. women competing for a dinner of chicken, fruits and vegetable. They squared off on head to head eating competitions which included, among other gross things, a tarantula, tripe, a live stick bug, and an iguana's tail. I have to give kudos to Heidi. She sucked it up and gave it her all by eating a rat's tail her first round and three scorpions her second round only narrowly losing to John Salley. The men ended up winning the competition by a score of 5-2. Of course, being the gentlemen they are, the men shared their dinner with the women.

The second trial was between Janice and Lou. The women and the men each had to nominate a team member to be the lead. The women unanimously nominated Janice Dickinson while the men in turn unanimously nominated Lou Diamond Phillips. Then the two nominated leads had to compete for the title of "Camp Leader" for one week. For the trial, Janice and Lou had their wrists shackled to a bucket of jungle slime perched above their heads. They had to hold their arms above their heads until one dropped his/her arms thereby dumping the bucket and losing the trial. Janice conceded the title allowing Lou to win (he probably would have any way).

As the new Camp Leader, Lou was responsible for assigning chores to each of the campers. Guess who slept through the assignments and didn't volunteer for any of the chores - that's right, Heidi and Spencer. Lou was also allowed to assign a celebrity one of his personal chores such as breakfast in bed or doing his laundry, etc. In a surprising and creepy move, Sanjaya volunteered to give Lou Diamond Phillips a daily foot massage.

The last trial was for the big prize...immunity for their team from America's vote. The trial started during the live broadcast as the celebrities were dangled head first into a tank that started to fill up with all manner of creepy, crawly things. Not surprisingly, Heidi and Spencer opted to not even try and sat on the sidelines. Four celebrities immediately dropped from the trial as soon as the bugs appeared - Frangela, John Salley, and Janice Dickinson. The episode ended with 5 celebrities battling it out - Lou Diamond Phillips, Torrie Wilson, Sanjaya Malakar, Patti Blagojevich, and Stephen Baldwin. We'll have to wait until Tuesday to find out which team will win immunity from the vote.

Tune into "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here" Monday through Thursday on NBC at 8pm Eastern.
