The New President and Black-America

My Opinion on the Subject

The election in over. We do not have to hear anymore backstabbing and childlike play from the canidates. No more hearing about Obama's lack of experience and McCain's military record. After watching the elections on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, it was exciting to see a different face in the white house but at the same time the media seems to be going over board. Titles such as "African-Americans savior historic moment", this is good for race-relations, or this is great for African-American people is geeting alittle tiresome.

I think it is great to see a non-white president in my lifetime and this is an historical moment for all of those who do not realize that there has already been black presidents before. As an Black-American female, I am offended that people would suggest that Black-Americans will be more motivated to succeed in everything we do. If white-Americans ever noticed we do not need a black president to be a success. Personally, I am self-motivated enough to succeed in everything I do. For example, being the first in my family to attend and graduate from college is a great accomplishment. Considering our history in this country and we are still here is amazing within itself.

The media has completely blown this out of portion. He is not a savior to the Black-American people. I will give him credit he did get a lot of people of all colors and ages to vote, not just Black-Americans. Not every Black-American voted for him. Unfortunately he has a lot of work ahead because of the last administration.
