Perhaps it's just me. Firstly I like our President. I do not consider myself a political animal in any sense of the word, but I believe during my 76 years I have developed a sense of judgment when it comes to reading an individual's sincerity and yes, even his integrity - if this term can be used in discussing any politician. In the case of President Obama I find him creditable and sincere in his approach to the state of our nation. The task that lay before him on taking office was gargantuan to say the least. It would be interesting to see what Las Vegas' illustrious Mayor; Oscar Goodman would do in a similar position (God forbid).
Don't get me wrong, I like Oscar. I can think of no one more suited to head this town than an ex mafia lawyer!
But come on Oscar - the fact that the President of this great country singled us out as a location to avoid if you are short of funds, either personal or corporate, makes perfect sense and is a compliment indeed!
There is an age old saying in the entertainment business which implies "I don't care what you say about me or how you spell my name as long as you mention me!" Well Mr. Mayor in case you haven't noticed it ...we are in the entertainment business - big time!
As far as I am aware no president in the history of this great country has visited Vegas more often than Barack Obama! What greater testimony to the appeal of our incredible city could we ask for?
Yes Mr. President we know "You Love Las Vegas". And let's face it - what's not to love!
But if your company is struggling and surviving on public funds; if your executives are facing foreclosure on their multi million dollar homes - certainly it would not be good PR to be seen in Las Vegas!
Likewise if you are struggling to pay your collage loan or any other bills for that matter you won't find a solution here despite the movies you've seen, with perhaps the exception of Oceans Eleven!
On the other hand if you are thinking of relocating in retirement and are looking for somewhere cheap to live - I've found nowhere in the world where I can enjoy the standard of living I enjoy here at a cost you won't believe - but that's another story!
