The Prestige Awes All

The Prestige is a one of a kind film that doesn't happen very often. A film so awe inspiring and dramatic that it takes your breath away. That is the Prestige in a nutshell ladies and gentlemen. The film stars Christian Bale who made his rise to stardom from Batman Begins and Hugh Jackman who starred in several films including Swordfish and X-Men. Michael Kane also stars in the film as a mentor named Mr. Cutter and continues to be one of my favorite actors. The film is directed by Chris Nolan

The plot of the film centers around a competition between the two magicians played by Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman. Each magician tries to better the other in tricks, fame, popularity and magic. Each aspires to be better than the other. The ferocity of their rivalry reaches new heights when Bale's assistant and wife, played by Scarlet Johanson, drowns in a magic act.

One of the reasons why the film is so great is because the directed Nolan constantly is switching between the past and present, keeping the audience guessing throughout the film and waiting for the shocking twist which keeps on happening throughout the film.

Hugh Jackman and Chistian Bale play the roles of the two magicians Rupert Angier and Alfred Borgen. The two characters were once friends and part of the same magic act and now that they have split apart, their rivalry is more than just tricks and games. It is about lives hanging in the balance with Angier trying to get out of prison and his love for his daughter.
The magician Angier remains torn apart by being unable to discover the trick to Borden's magic act which features a transported man across the room into thin air in a matter of seconds. Angier travels to the United States to try and find the maker of the magic machine and to try and discover Borden's secret in the "Prestige" act of his magic act. The designer of the magic trick is created by a man named Nicholas Tesla who is played by David Bowie. Bowie shows him how he uses electricity to conduct his trick.

The ending I will not reveal because it has such a great plot twist and turn that will leave you talking about it for ages. All I can say is pay attention to every detail of the film and prepare to be amazed. It is one of the best films of the year that makes you think and it is simply awe inspiring.
