The Price of Gas is Up Again

It's Not Falling Soon, My Friend

Kylyssa Shay
The price of gas is up again
it's not falling soon, my friend.

The world's insane, war in Iraq
we don't know if they're coming back.

The richest country, what a lie -
slowly, daily, people die.
Politicians slinging mud and guns
while people die, daughters and sons -
shot, blown up, bashed in their heads
or right at home in their own beds.
No one's even really trying
to stem the growing, bloody tide.
Too many killed, too many died.

The price of gas is up again
it's not falling soon, my friend.

The price of the Dollar is down.

So you wonder why and frown

    Fiat monies alway fail

Fed rate changes are of no avail

Government printing presses do their chore

And print out notes to pay for the war

The war profiteers will soon get rich

For the rest of us life IS a bitch

The way to fix this may sound bold

It's our money that needs to be backed by gold.

It's the value of the Dollar that's down.

The US dollar was ruined August 15 1971 when Nixon killed the gold standard.

We have had inflation ever since.

Intense poem. And oh how that picture terrifies me.

We Americans think we have it rough, but when we compare our lives with those in other parts of the world, the price of gas really doesn't seem all that bad. Thanks for the reminder.
