The Price is Right Live Stage Show Premieres at Foxwoods Resort Casino

Longest-Running Television Show Sure to Attract Large Audiences

Corey Sipe
It's time to come on down to Foxwoods Resort Casino to see The Price is Right Live Stage Show!

Television's longest-running television show will have an eight-week run in the world's largest casino as audience members will have the opportunity to register and be asked to "Come on Down!"

Attending a recent show, I can tell you that watching the live stage show is much more fun than watching the television show.

Audience members register in advance to be a contestant and receive yellow name tags, just like audience members in the live television show.

Early birds are in for a treat as they can watch the Price is Right trivia questions which ask the price of various prizes awarded during the show's 35-year run.

Those attending will see a live stage set of the Price is Right, almost identical to the one shown on the CBS television show.

Everyone called down wins a free Price is Right t-shirt no matter their bid.

The person with the closest bid has the opportunity to play games such as Cliffhangers, Plinko, A Hole in One or Two, Showcase Showdown, the grocery pricing game, and The Wheel.

Two large projection screens allow even audience members in the back rows to get a good view of the contestants, stage, and the various games.

The show takes place in the 1,300-seat Fox Theater giving audience members a good chance of being called down since approximately 12-15 people are called down at each show.

While I did not get called down to be a contestant, I still enjoyed the show but admit that most of the audience members and contestants at the stage show were not quite as energetic and enthusiastic as the ones on the television show.

The show is about an hour and a half long, much longer than the approximately 40-minute long show on television.

Like the television show, audience members are encouraged to yell out "too much", "not enough", "bid $1.00", and other recommendations to contestants hoping to win prizes such as a new car, a trip to Vegas, or possibly a large cash prize.

During the show, audience members can see a brief history of the Price is Right, clips of past Price is Right game shows with host Bob Barker, and some of the funniest moments on the television show.

While Drew Carey will not be making an appearance, Todd Newton, a host of several game shows on the Game Show Network hosted the show I attended along with WTNH Channel 8 meteorologist Matt Scott.

After the show, audience members can purchase Price is Right t-shirts, the Price is Right DVD game, and other souvenirs.

The show's run began on Sept. 8 and runs through Oct. 29 with shows Monday through Thursday at 7 p.m. and matinee shows on Wednesdays at 2 p.m.

Those attending are asked to arrive two hours prior to the show time for check-in and seating.

Tickets can be purchased for $25 for those using their Dream Reward points as payment while credit card purchases are $30 for each ticket.

Purchases can be made by calling 1-800-200-2882, visiting the Foxwoods Box Office, or by logging onto www.foxwoods.com.

Excellent article, Corey. I've been watching the commercials for the show on WFSB Channel 3. Your article explained everything very well. It's nice to read work by another Connecticut CP.
