The Princeville Resort

Lying in a hammock under swaying palm trees and sipping on your favorite cocktail while looking at the most gorgeous views in the western hemisphere. All of this and more can be found on the warm tropical island of Kauai. And the best way to experience Kauai is by staying on the Princeville Resort. This Resort offers many luxuries for all of its guests and has the most magnificent views of anywhere on the Island. No other place in Hawaii compares to that of the Princeville Resort.

I started my week long vacation by flying into Lihue airport, which has a very tropical Hawaii feel. After picking up my rental car I drove along the stunning north side of the island to the resort. When I pulled in to the marble entrance a valet greeter immediately gave me a fresh flower lei and took my car for me. I then walked through the spacious and open lobby that was decorated with a European theme but still fit into the scenery quite well. The check in was quick and they had my room ready and the key was in my hand as soon as I said my name.

I then went up an elevator to my level and walked through a wide hallway to my room. I reserved a partial ocean view thinking I would get to see a sliver of beach but mostly mountain. Much to my surprise I opened my curtains to a breath taking view of Hanalei Bay and the jagged mountain cliffs that led to Bali Hai. I was amazed that I received this amazing room and was glad I chose a partial because the mountains themselves were stunning to look at. I then unpacked and went out to explore the hotel.

As I went down to the lower levels I noticed why this hotel had a five star rating. The walls were decorated with original paintings that fit into the overall theme of the hotel and hallways were maintained very well and were very clean. I worked my way out to the pool and enjoyed a quick dip in the warm afternoon sun. I then swam up to the in-pool bar and ordered a drink that I enjoyed sitting there in the pool taking in the beautiful scenery.

That night I went down to the luau that the hotel throws once a week. It is on the beach and has many attractions for all ages including some of the best food you will find on your trip. The ceremonies including fire twirlers, native songs, and of course, girls in grass skirts shaking it. But over all the experience was well worth the entrance fee and made a memorable night for me. A warning for all, you must try Poi, the local dish, but only take a small amount the first time or you will be in for surprise the next morning.

The rest of my vacation included exploring the island and all the other activities that the Princeville has to offer. In my short week, I was only able to participate in a small amount of the many attractions Kauai has to offer. If you plan to go to Kauai and don't stay at the Princeville I highly recommend you take an evening and go sit on the terrace and watch a sunset or the famed cliffs. And for those of you who are lucky enough to stay there, I only say count your blessings while your there because you will dream of your trip the rest of your life.

A hammock sounds wonderful right about now.
