The Pro War Candidacy of Senator John McCain

Steven West
Senator John McCain has been gaining momentum in his efforts to secure the Republican nomination for the Presidency. He likes to be known as the expert in foreign affairs. However, Senator McCain has been one of President Bush's greatest supporters of the surge in Iraq. He has indicated that "it would be fine with" him if the U.S. military stayed in Iraq for "a hundred years." Now straight talking Senator McCain has stated before his supporters that "It's a tough war we're in. It's not going to be over right away. There's going to be other wars."

What other wars are you talking about Senator McCain? Are we going to war against Iran? Are we going to war against Syria? Where are we going to get the troops and the equipment to fight these wars? Our military is exhausted and over extended. We are having difficulties getting spare parts and military equipment for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Do you plan to institute a draft? Where are we going to treat all our future wounded soldiers? Do you plan to build new hospitals for our wounded veterans?

How are we going to pay for these wars? Are you going to increase the budget in the defense department? Do you plan to advocate for decreasing our domestic expenditures? Are you prepared for the backlash that this move will create? We are suffering from huge budget deficits. Our economy is in recession. How are the financial markets going to react to your war policies? Are you planning a go it alone strategy or are you willing to seek international support?

What happens if your policies create more hostilities in the Middle East? Are you concerned that other countries might look at the United States as a warmonger? What if your policies lead to an energy crisis such as the dramatic cutoff of oil? Are you willing to face the American people if the price per gallon goes to $10.00? What if the economies of the world collapse, and we go into a world wide depression? Straight talking Senator John McCain, you need to talk about all the possible ramifications of your war remarks. After all, when you state, "We will never surrender but there will be other wars," you are not being candid with the American people. When the American people call for a change in direction, they are not advocating for more war, more casualties, and more wounded. It's time, Senator McCain, that you listened to the will of the American people.

Oh, come ON, Steven! Don't you (911-Reagan) understand how (911-Reagan) important it is (911-Reagan) that we stay (911-reagan) the course? (911-Reagan) We'll worry (911-Reagan) about how we're (911-Reagan) going to pay for it (911-Reagan) later!
