The Problem With Excess Skin

Shannon Frye
It seems that obesity is not a bigger problem than it ever has been. People are not eating right or making good choices about what they eat. Plus, going out to dinner will not help. They feed you very large portions no matter which place you decide to go. Perhaps part of the problem is that everybody is working so much that they do not have the time or the energy to cook dinner. With that comes the problem that people do not exercise. They simply do not have the motivation or the time to stick to an exercise plan.

A lot of people decide that the only way they are going to look how they want to look is through plastic surgery. They will go to the doctor and have surgery done. This only creates more problems. Now the person has excess skin and scars instead of excess weight. If the person would have dieted and exercised they would have lost the weight and not had any scars or excess skin. You cannot lose weight that fast and expect your skin to shrink down to what it should. It takes a while for the skin to get back to how it used to be.

It's somewhat like when a women has a baby and comes home from the hospital. The skin does not shrink back down for at least a couple of weeks. Sometimes the extra skin will linger around for longer. You cannot lose a lot of weight in a fast amount of time or you will be left with excess skin. Over time it will shrink down but it might take a lot longer than you expected it to.

Many people that are left with excess skin do not wait for the skin to reform itself to the body. They will go in and have the excess skin removed as well. That leaves them with more pain and more problems. You cannot simply cut the skin off of your body and expect everything to go well. There's always a chance for an infection to occur. When it comes to losing that excess skin you will want to avoid it in the first place. If you are dieting and exercising make sure that you aren't losing the weight too fast. Make slow changes to lose weight instead of starving yourself to lose a lot of weight all at one time.
