The Problem with Palin and Women.

Jealousy is an Ugly Critter

Sherry Tomfeld
Sarah Palin is thinking about running for President in 2012. Many are thrilled with the aspect of this woman getting into the White House. For others, the thought of a President Palin simply drives them crazy. Something about Sarah Palin scares democrats. Even stranger, something about Sarah Palin scares a lot of republicans too.

What is the problem with Sarah Palin running for high office? According to my cleaning lady, "she's stupid". When asked why, she didn't really know, she'd just heard it on TV. We've been through the tag of stupid with George W. Bush. The media and democrats were relentless on Bush's IQ. Never mind that the man could fly a jet, run a business and govern Texas. The same game is being played with Sarah Palin. EVERY word is parsed, EVERY meaning questioned and EVERY motive scrutinized. What other person, in politics or not, is treated this way? I seriously can't think of one. Glenn Beck may be the closest second.

Sarah Palin also comes under fire from NOW. The women in NOW supposedly love powerful women, right? Well they let Hillary Clinton down when push came to shove and they certainly condemn Palin for being strong in her faith and values. (Which is double speak for they hate pro-life women.)

Another problem for Sarah Palin is that she speaks her mind. She doesn't dance around the subject, she puts it out there for better or worse. The country has become so PC that people are aghast to hear a politician, especially a woman, talk this way. She's bold and there have always been those scared of this combination.

I read an article written by a democrat blogger when Palin was VP candidate. It was an eye opening and revealing article written by a woman who literally could not stand Sarah Palin. I give the woman credit, she said "I think what it amounts to is that I am jealous." There you go folks. The problem with Sarah Palin may not be Palin's problem at all. It may be the women who look at her and say wow.

The blogger lamented about how "fit" Palin looked for having so many kids. Sarah looked too pretty to be a VP or President! She questioned how Palin could raise a large family, be a Governor and still seem so happy. She questioned the Palin's decision to allow Trig to be born. And then added how much strength it must have taken to make that choice. She sounded in awe of Sarah and Todd's marriage and lifestyle. And then just simply admitted that she was jealous of Sarah Palin and it made her angry.

Jealousy is an ugly critter. It can make totally sensible people say and do crazy things. And let's be honest, women are the worst when it comes to petty jealousy. The problem with Sarah Palin might be that she is what most women (secretly) wish they could be.

I think she has some interesting talents and strength of character. However, she's not really informed or bright. She's not dumb, but she would certainly be in over her head playing at that level. Because she is outspoken, she has a history of speaking about topics and making statement that show how uninformed and 'normal' she is. Normal is not bad, unless you are talking about the POTUS. I want the Pres to be an Ivy educated, brainiac (GOP or DEM) not the football dad or soccer / hockey mom next door.

Good article. I had not thought of jealousy but I do know she scares liberals to death. I repeat "THE LIBERALS ARE SCARED TO DEATH" of SARAH PALIN.

Excellent article. Comes across as a more objective viewpoint (i.o.w. you aren't basing your comments on your political views, but on Sarah Palin the person)

This is an interesting spin on Sarah, I live in Mat-Su Valley where she is from and watched her become Mayor of Wasilla and Govenor of Alaska. While I did not vote for her to be govenor it had nothing to do with her being "stupid", but looking at the candidates that were running and who was best suited for the position. Sarah is an outspoken woman and you are correct Sherry, this does make others especially other women envious, "who could possibly have it that together?" I am more upset at the fact that she left office before her term of govenor was over, but understand what she was up against with bogus lawsuits being thrown at her, not allowing her to do her job she was elected to do. On another note on this she had a tremendous opportunity after the 2008 elections to go out on a national level and make a name for herself and she has. Do I believe she should run for President in 2012..No, but I do believe she can be a really good person to have on your side if you

Nice work, Sherry. How many of Sarah Palin's critics have been a two-term Mayor, chairwoman of one of the most powerful energy commissions in the world, and Governor of the largest state in the nation with the most dispersed population? None of them, including the current president. Obama was never anything more than a third-year junior associate lawyer, adjunct night lecturer, one of 400 Illinois legislators, and a U.S. senator for a few months. I suspect that you're right--a large part of it is jealousy because Sarah Palin can raise five kids and do all that she's done. Another part of it is envy; that is, she has a very devoted and supportive husband. And finally, much of it has to do with Sarah Palin being pro-life while 25% of U.S. women have had abortions.

I pass. She was a governor who quit. She used State money to pay her bills, she paid off the father of her daughter, she talks a lot but knows nothing about leading a State nevertheless a country. She is not a politician by any means, she is a beauty queen who uses her family to be known, she uses unscupulous ways like telling the tea party the various ways to vote her daughter in above all of the other great dancers, she is not a leader - she is like a dictator, she has a book wirtten about her when she has done nothing, she says nothing in her speeches but eggs the people on to believe she is saying something valuable. She is a charmer! not a leader! Her ego is as large as her State. My two cents

I'm not a Palin fan myself but neither do I consider her a stupid or bad woman. She is incredibly strong-willed. Who else do you know who could stand up under the barage of hatred spewed in her direction every single day and still manage to smile? I admire her for that. I certainly couldn't do it. Has she made some mistakes? Absolutely! But so have other powerful women including Hillary. However, I don't think she is a good candidate for president. We need a female for certain but one that is less polarizing. That's just my two cents worth. Let the bashing begin!

Gotta admire Sarah. People really do look at her resentfully and think she can't be moral, ethical, savvy, pretty AND smart, can she? So she must not be smart. Ridiculous! I have heard many women say "She may be a woman, but she doesn't speak for me, that's for sure." Why? Because there is a very lively spirit of abortion that cannot tolerate her forthright belief in the sanctity of life.

"Stupid" is just another of the seemingly limitless epithets that the hippies have in their grab bag to throw at any enemies of the revolution.Stupid or racist or sexist or any other meaningless drool that the pinkos regurgitate simply mean "non-Lib"
