The Pros and Cons of Living in Buffalo NY
Buffalo is Not a Well Known City, but is Still a Great City
Buffalo sports have combined for a total of zero titles in our history, but that does not mean that we have never had any great teams. Many people know Buffalo for blowing four straight Supper Bowls. These teams were not horrible teams by any means; they just could not get the job done when it really mattered. Buffalo is also big for hockey, but only when the team is winning. This city is a gigantic bandwagon city, and people only follow the team when they are winning. Over the last few years the hockey team has been winning and was within one win of going to the finals last year. This year they have made it the same distance, but their outlook is not looking very good right now, and will probably not reach the finals again this year.
While we may have great but unsatisfying sports teams, we certainly have unsatisfying weather. Buffalo is known for the harsh cold months that we face anywhere between September and sometimes April. We have a history of destructive blizzards, including a very recent one in the month of October 2006. A famous blizzard that many people know about is the Blizzard of 77 which I personally was not around for, but have heard how the entire city was shut down for days upon days, with snow climbing as high as telephone poles. However many people may not know that Buffalo actually has nice weather, and usually once the snow melts, we can rely on some excellent temperatures.
Buffalo as of late has been known for having very little to do, but that has been worked on and even changed a little bit because of the hockey team. There isn't a lot of clubs downtown, and a lot of locals seem to cross the border when looking for a good time. Things are changing for downtown however, and Buffalo is even working on developing the water front to increase revenues and business.
While many people may not know a lot about Buffalo, I bet that people do know of our failing Football teams, and our harsh weather. Lately the hockey team has been doing very well, but looks to make an exit very soon in the Stanley Cup Finals. Buffalo does have very harsh weather, and is known for blizzards, but many people don't know or believe that Buffalo has nice weather. In fact we do have very nice weather and usually enough rain for the plants, but not a lot at all.

Post a CommentI have been living in Buffalo for a few years and Can't wait to get out. This place is awful. The only thing people in Buffalo care about is their failing sports teams, massive amounts of alcohol, and stuffing their fat faces with garbage. The place is dead. It is no wonder why so many people have already moved out, and continue to do so everyday.
WOW that sucked balls. thx for makin us look bad
I was thinking the same thing while I read this article: "This is a poor article".
There's so many inaccuracies I could point out, and so many things I could dissect, I could rip this entire article apart, however it's dismal quality doesn't warrant any more time than what I (regrettably) already had to spend reading it.
This really is a poor article. First off, the Sabres always draw people even when they suck. The only time the arena was empty was when they they were going through the bankruptcy. I also disagree about the weather. Go to Chicago and tell me Buffalo's weather is bad. Yes Buffalo gets more snow, but it's not as cold. The comment from westisbest is pretty reveling to either his lack of education, or his keen eye for obvious. If I was going to compare the amenities of LA, Chicago, or NY to Buffalo, then of course it would lose handily. The truth is Buffalo is a little rough on the edges, but it's by far not the worst place I've been, and I've been to 48 states. In fact I would rank Buffalo in the top ten US Cities every time.
buffalo blows compared to other cities that are considered "great!" buffalo is not a great city by any standards. it has certain things going for it, but lacks the overall components to put it in notable categories.
