The Pros and Cons of Shopping on Etsy
Pros of Shopping on Etsy: Online shoppers have the opportunity to buy handmade and organic products on Etsy. Almost everything sold in this online shopping mall is 100% handmade with the exception of craft supplies and tools for other homemade products. I have shopped on Etsy for birthday presents and enjoyed that shopping experience. Another advantage of shopping on this website is that you can support your local economy by purchasing American-made products. There is also a reduced risk for faulty products that were made in foreign countries and buyers have direct contact with many Etsy sellers.
While there are sellers on Etsy who reside in other countries, many U.S. based products are listed among this website's 100,000+ shops. Materials used in clothing, toys, jewelry and other handmade products sold on this website are oftentimes fully disclosed on the item description pages. It is comforting for online shoppers to know exactly what they are buying. This is not always the case when buying merchandise from large commercial retail and grocery stores. The Etsy website is user friendly, and they even have a guide and video tutorial that teaches online visitors how to shop on this website.
Cons of Shopping on Etsy: Registration is mandatory, which is one of the disadvantages of shopping on Etsy. Some online shoppers would rather buy items from a website without having to register for a profile. However, I do understand the community building aspect that registration can bring to Etsy and its online sellers. The search engine on Etsy does not produce useful results. This is another disadvantage of shopping on Etsy when you want to find a specific type of product such as holiday greeting cards for boys or wallets.
Checkbooks, buttons, hair clips, cell phone cases and other products were included in a search for fabric wallets. As a result, this unpredictable search engine causes the shopping experience to be longer than necessary. That did not give me confidence in the accuracy and reliability of the search engine on Etsy. It is not convenient, especially for busy online shoppers who want to browse the Etsy store during lunch breaks at work or relaxed moments on their schedule. Online shopping can be narrowed down by price, which seems to be the only upside to using Etsy's search engine.

Post a CommentMalina, maybe you'll like some other sites like Artfire or other craft shopping sites. I have purchased from Etsy and was very satisfied with what I bought and have been able to find some really nice items to purchase as gifts.
I looked at the etsy sites. i do not find their items appealing.
