The Pros and Cons of Staying at a Bed and Breakfast

Have you ever stayed at a bed and breakfast? It is a unique experience that I think everyone should try at least once. A bed and breakfast place can usually be found all over the world. It is a place where you pay money to be able to sleep at, and then you also get breakfast in the morning. That is why it is called a bed and breakfast. There are many pros and cons of staying at a bed and breakfast.

Pros

There are many pros to staying at a bed and breakfast. I would know. I have stayed in many bed and breakfasts all over the world. One of the pros of staying at a bed and breakfast is that usually the place you are staying at is the most charming and quaint place ever. I have stayed in huge Victorian homes that were made into a bed and breakfast, and I have even stayed in a bed and breakfast that actually was an English manor in England. Not only are the bed and breakfasts charming inside, but so are the grounds. This is fun for the person who likes the outdoors because there are usually lots of grounds to walk around.

I think one of the most important things about spending the night at a place is that the beds are comfortable. I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast where the beds were not lush and beautiful. Many of the bed and breakfasts have canopy beds which make the whole room so much more enjoyable to be in. If you are looking for a romantic setting, then you may want to go to a bed and breakfast. Some even come with fireplaces and Jacuzzis. Many people go to a bed and breakfast for special time with their loved one.

If you are a lover of food, you will want to stay at a bed and breakfast. Usually at the breakfast table you will find many kinds of homemade baked goodies to eat. Plus, if you are staying at a good bed and breakfast the cook will usually make any hot breakfast if you ask in advance. I enjoy staying at places that cook my food to order. I think that is a huge plus.

Lastly, the one pro that I think makes a bed and breakfast different then other places you can stay at is the private attention you usually get from your host/hostess. The people who manage the bed and breakfast usually bend over backwards to make sure that you are happy. Many I have found are very talkative, and they have charming stories to share with you if you are willing to hear them. You really get great attention when you stay at a bed and breakfast.

Cons

Unfortunately, there are also cons for staying at a bed and breakfast too. For one, you may find that you have a lack of privacy. Some bed and breakfasts make you share a bathroom with other guests. You will also usually have to share your eating quarters with other guests. Which if you are not into chatty people, you may not enjoy bed and breakfasts. There might be guests that will want to talk to you non-stop, and all you are trying to do is enjoy your morning coffee.

Plus, although a bed and breakfast can be romantic it may not be the best place actually for romance. Many bed and breakfasts have really thin walls. The guest next door to you may hear every single thing you are doing in your own room. If you do not care great, but if you do then you might want to stay somewhere where you can have more privacy.

Usually a good bed and breakfast place will be costly. If you are looking for a cheaper place to sleep and eat a bed and breakfast may not be your best bet. However, if you travel to a bed and breakfast in "off season", your rates may be less than other places. Always try to book in advance because that is usually the only way you can get into a bed and breakfast. I think staying at a bed and breakfast depends really on what sort of experience you want when staying at a place. There are many pros and cons to staying at a bed and breakfast.
