The Pros of Free Online Tarot Readings

Venus Rachal

So you want to get a quick and easy tarot reading and you don't want to spend the $20-$150 to see a tarot reader. You go online and you type in a "free tarot readings" or something similar. A whole list of sites comes up and you get excited because you have a host of places to choose from and-the best part is-they are free! Before you jump up and down about your fabulous find, there are a few things you should know about doing automated readings online. (See Part I for the CONS of online tarot readings)

The PROS:

1. Automated tarot readings are short.
Maybe you are a busy mom with two jobs and three screaming toddlers arguing over teddy bears or who hit who first. You just don't have the time to take out an hour of time with a reader, but you need some quick insight into your question. You can sit for 10 minutes or 15 at most (depending on how many tarot cards are in the layout and how long the paragraphs are) and get an answer to your question.

2. As mentioned, these readings are FREE.
Maybe you don't even have $3 this week for coffee in the morning, so you certainly aren't in a position to pay the $20-$150 that a one-on-one tarot reading would cost. Maybe you can't even afford a $5 reading on eBay. In this case, you can get a free online tarot reading and feel calmer and less stressed about your issue. You might find out that your check is in the mail or you will meet a new mate. In about 10 minutes, you've gotten your answer and you didn't have to pay for it (or at least no more than you normally pay for Internet service).

3. You've gotten a quick introduction to the tarot.
If you are new to the tarot and you want to see what the decks look like and how spreads are laid out, free online readings can give you a basic understanding of how the cards work. You see that every tarot card in a reading has a special position and that depending on this placement, a card means different things. Without having to buy a book or take a class, you've got a mini tutorial on reading tarot cards and how all of the elements come together.

4. You can look at tarot cards from a particular deck to see if you want to buy it.
Some sites like http://www.facade.com offer a choice of which deck you can use when doing a free reading. This is great if you want to see what the cards look like as some bookstores will not let you open a pack of tarot cards and they may not have a book showing you pictures from the decks. There is nothing more frustrating in buying tarot decks than seeing one or two beautiful cards on the box cover only to open it up and find most of the other cards don't look like that! You can't return the deck and you are stuck with a couple of good-looking cards and other ones you wouldn't touch with gloves on. By playing around on free online tarot sites, you can see what different decks look like and find one that appeals to you.

Free online readings can definitely help you if you are a beginner or if you want to learn a bit about tarot spreads or even when you want to see cards from a specific deck. However, it is important to be aware that the online tarot readings are limited in scope and they cannot give you as much information as a psychic reader. Use the instant online readings when you need quick answers or when your budget doesn't permit a live reading, just don't expect that they will answer every question you have in the way you need it answered.
