The Queen of Troy Hill

Jack DeVoss

The Queen of Troy Hill
sitting above the rivers
in her castle of promise,
surrounded -
by falling plaster
and bad duct work.

The Queen of Troy Hill
with secrets
behind every closed fireplace
waiting to be found -
dreams in every corner
replacing the cobwebs
and the dust.

The Queen of Troy Hill
her soft fingers
running through my hair;
lips pressed against mine
as I gently carry her
back to the place -
where we've always belonged.
