The Quest for New Energy Technologies

The Future of Energy Resources Will Be Guided by the Inspired Entrepreneur

David Frantz
Four dollars a gallon for gasoline is now a major catalyst for change. Developing nations feel the crunch as fuel prices limit access to food, drinking water, and basic health needs. There is growing concern that when new energy sources are made available, large corporations will maintain a tight control of ownership, ridding themselves of competition through legal maneuvering and massive ad campaigns designed to make us believe that they have our best interests at heart.

Advanced communications networks have helped energy conglomerates create their empires. However, this beast has an alter ego, one that by its very nature has the potential to undo the financial dominance that has put the majority of global wealth and human welfare in the hands of a small minority. Interpersonal contact has increased at a phenomenal rate in the last ten years, as has the dissemination of scientific and sociological data. Communities once isolated from access to emerging technologies are finding what they need, when they need it. The volume of information available for altruistic souls to research and develop usable and affordable energy sources for their personal and regional needs is about to explode. The public is angry, outraged, and disappointed with current energy policies and is taking matters into their own hands.

There is a surprise in store for those who would stand in the way of public access to the world wide web, those who would feed our inquiring minds just enough to keep us alive, but not fruitfully active. Innovative souls around the planet now have the knowledge to set up Local Area Networks and combine encrypted data bursts with shortwave radio broadcasts and satellite up links. The ability for us to keep in touch wherever and whenever we please can no longer be quashed. The genie is out of the bottle, and it's a non-resealable cap.

The majority of major scientific advances in the last hundred years have been brought forth by basement and back room inventors. There is no doubt that when our cumulative social conscience has reached its ethical and moral limits, human innovation will emerge at a grass roots level that has never been seen before, and the information will largely be free.

Concerns for planetary health, as well as the desire for unencumbered personal mobility is about to propagate a revolutionary social paradigm, as well as new and simplified energy sources. A break from the past is imminent, and necessary. Saving the planet and providing basic needs and freedoms for our global family is now the priority, instead of personal and corporate greed. It's an entrepreneurial potluck. Bring a dish to share. A new energy entree is about to be served. Please partake with us.
