The economy is not in recession either. Oh, we aren't feeling the crunch, we just simply have become too spoiled and now we are getting what we the American People have coming. Hello, do you know exactly how stupid that sounds? We must have finally outsourced the last of our precious commodity - our brains. Look, we are hurting; there is no doubt about it. When you no longer need 2 incomes, but 3 just to put bacon on the table (of course if you prefer lettuce you can do that too, because lets face it that is just about as expensive these days) then I would say we are pretty well screwed. Of course the trick is finding that 3rd job and not to mention the fact that you may just run out of hours of the day to work, sleep and whatever other little activity you can come up with.
Now of course that would work well in a 2 person adult household, if the partners know how to share the burden, but sadly we can't do that anymore either. You see we have finally gotten it to the point now that we have 2 heads of the household and nobody wants to actually carry any real responsibility anymore. We are all overtired, overworked and under paid. But life is wonderful and we wouldn't want to change a thing.
Now here is the rub, instead of pulling together we pull apart. Gee after all we did this and no we have to pay. Excuse me I didn't sign that petition, did you?
As George Carlin (the belated great) often voiced we have lost ground in education as well. We went from headstart to no child left behind. Hell, our kids are so far behind half of the time it is a miracle we can even find them. But that is not those little darlings fault either; it is just too strenuous for them to have to learn all of those things that may enable those little darlings to actually fill out a job application and write a resume. But then it is so much easier to push the responsibility on the Teachers instead of taking some on our-selves. Oh wait that is right, we are the Parents. We had nothing to do with them, just about 20seconds of squirt and release for the male and circa 9 month of carry and then however long of push. No problem let the state take care of it. We wouldn't want to upset them after all, before they come after their parents. Hey spanking is out, you can't discipline anymore and you know what putting them in the corner really won't work forever. But we successfully raised the most sensitive little hoodlums we possibly could.
Then we take them and put them in the military where the joke continues. Yes, put our kids into a war zone and then tell them they better not do their job. Eh now these days we even take Mommy and Daddy and ship them out and leave Grandma to raise the offspring, because Mommy and Daddy have to do their duty to our country in a different country instead of to their kids. No, don't misunderstand me here. I have the highest respect for out Folks in Arms and I love them to death, but so it seems do our leaders.
They are fighting to protect us and our freedom, while the leeches here slowly drain us dry.
Alternative fuel and hybrid cars are another source of amusement on a daily bases. Two reasons cited for those two are better for our planet and more cost efficient for the owners. Ok, I am not a scientist so I can't agree or disagree with the better for our planet part, because truthfully we are only going to read what they want us to know. I do however know that it is not more cost effective for the average Joe and Jane. First of all have you noticed a constant slight raise in Food Prices? Secondly have you noticed the cost of those cars? Somehow I don't think that we are going to safe much money this way.
Cable TV prices are constantly going up too. Yup the providers are pulling dime after dime out of our bottoms and strangely our entertainment is getting worst every day. How many re-runs of "Ice-Truckers in Alaska" or how many more reality shows do we need? How about a reality show about people watching reality shows all the time? Get real folks! So we pay more and get less entertainment. Sounds like it is time to pull out the board games. Show of hands, how many of you remember what a board game is?
We believe in the American Dream right? I mean it is still alive, isn't it? Where everyone has a chance to make something out of them-selves if they only really want to. Where everyone can become a citizen if they only try. Guess what, not going to happen. Because most of those that want to become citizens can't afford the ever increasing paperwork prices, the wait times or are from the wrong country. Even those of us born here in the USA, how many can afford the over high tuition fees the colleges charge now and with less loans and grants. Oh and grants are not for the average class either. Don't believe me? Try it sometime. Have you noticed that it takes a large amount of money to get anything of the ground and you get that by working for someone that isn't going to be all too generous with you? So you work your ass off, just to see it slide away.
Do I sound bitter or is it just realistic?
