The R4 and R4i Cards:

Never Waste $40 on a Terrible DS Game Again!

Robert Sunset
At some point in every Nintendo DS gamers life, they will become overly excited about the release of a brand new game. They will follow its development, sometimes for years, in anticipation for what they think will be the best game ever. After waiting and waiting, they rush to the game store to pick up their pre-ordered copy of the DS game. They rush home, tearing the packaging open while driving with one hand. They pop the game into their system, play for five minutes then realize they've been duped. They fall to their knees in an uncontrollable spasm of hurt and rage, throw their hands in the air and scream "WHY!!"

Don't let this happen to you or to your loved ones. Anyone who owns a Nintendo DS or DSi shouldn't have to go through this traumatic ordeal. You can prevent this from happening by using an R4 or R4i card. The R4 revolutionized the way people were able to store their Nintendo DS games in a back-up format. The R4i does the same thing but was created for the DSi. These cards work by enabling you to store .NDS files on your computer. These files are exact copies of Nintendo DS games that can be easily moved around and/or compressed. The R4 and R4i are DS game sized cards that hold a MicroSD card and allows you to play .NDS files on any DS or DSi.

R4 and R4i cards not only allow you to try a game before you buy it, but they also allow you to run backup copies of DS games you already own. If you tend to be a little rough with your games, lose them often or intend to let small children play with them, having a backup copy to use in place of the original cartridge can be a very good option.

  • The R4 works for the Nintendo DS and DS Lite
  • The R4i works for the Nintendo DSi
There's some very cool homebrew out there that can only be played via the R4/R4i or a DS emulator on the PC
